TO THE INTERSJOOTION OF AVENUE H AT 30TH STREET; AND ON TEXAS AVENUE FROM
BLOOK 1, MAY AND JONES SUBDIVISION TO 30TH STREET; AND ON AVENUE H FROM ·
3~rH STREET TO 34TH STREET; AND ON AVENUE G FROM 19TH STREET TO 25TH STREET;
AND ON AVENUE H FROM APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET NORTH OF THE NORTH· PROPERTY LINE
OF SANDERS STREET TO 4TH STREET; AND AVENUE Q FROM 18TH STREET TO 19TH STREET
IN THE CITY OF LUBBOOK, TEXAS, AND FROHIBITING .PLACING OF BUILDINGS OR GrHER
STRUCTURES OR REPAIR OR RECONSTRWTION BETWEEN SAID BUILD!~ LINES, IN FUR-
THERANJE Qll, WIDENING, STRAIGHTENING AND IMPROVING S t:£H PARTS OF STREETS, AND
EST.ABLISHING TIME FOR EXISTING STRIDTURES TO CONFORM.

WHEREAS, Article 1105a, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas provides for the
establishment of building lines on aqy part or 'side of any street in the City
of Lubbock, said City of Lubbock havibg a population of more than 15,000, and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Lubbock desires to establish
building lines in connection with the widening, straightening a.nd improving
of that part of Texas Avenue between 19th Street and Block 1, ~ and Jones
Subdivision; Thence on a curve to the intersection of Avenue H at 30th Street;
and on Texas Avenue from Block 1, May and Jones Subdivision to 30th Street;
and on Avenue H from 30th Street to 34th Street; and on Avenue G from 19th
Street to 25th Street; and on Avenue H from approximately 200 feet North of
the North property line of Sanders Street to 4th Street; and Avenue Q from
18th Street to 19th Street, to prevent further buildings, structures or im-
provements of any nature being placed within the areas required for such
needed widening, straightening and improving these streets and avenues, and,
WHEREAS, widening, straightening and improving said streets and avenues
and the establishment of such building lines are necessary and will ultimate-
~ provide streets of desirable and adequate width which will aid in reliev-
ing heavy traffic in congested areas in accordance with the City 1 s comprehen•
sive plan and the City Planning Commission has recommended such improvements,
THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF Ltn3BOCK, TEXAS t
Section 1. That a building line is hereby established on the West side
of Texas Avenue and on the East side of Texas Avenue between 19th Street and
Block 1, May and Jones Subdivision; thence on a curve to Avenue H at 30th
Street, to-wit: ·
On the Iest side of suoh street beginning at a point in the South proper~
ty line of 19th Street, said point being in the North line of Survey 7, Block
B and in the projection of a line which is parallel to and 105.6 1 East of the
East property line of the alley in Block 2, Dupree jddition; THENCE South a-
long a line parallel to said alley in Block 2 and also parallel to and 15 1
West of the V/est property line of Texas Avenue a distance of 1320 1 to a point
in the North property line of 23rd Street; THENCE South on the same ·e~uese a-
long a line which is parallel to and 15 1 West of the West property line of
Texas Avenue to the North property line of 25th Street. Along the last part

of the last described course the building line is also 106 • East of the East
property line of a 12 foQt alley in Block 1, Bowles Addition; THENCE in a South-
wester~ direction to a point in the South property line of 25th Street 85 1 East
of the Northwest corner of Lot .1, Block 2, J. w. Ellison Addition, said point
being 15 1 West of the present West property line of Texas Avenue; THENCE South
parallel to the alley in Block 2, J. W. Ellison Addition and 85 1 East of the
East line of said alley to a point in the South line of Lot 6, Block 2, J ·. 'W.
:~alison Addition; THEIDE South along the same course along a line parallel
to and 62 1 East of the West line of Block l, Harkey Addition, also along a
line which is parallel to and 1~' •est of the West property line of.Texae Ave-
nue to a point in the South line of Block 1, May and Jones Subdivision, said
point being 452' East of the Southwest corner of said Block 1 and also being
15 1 ifest of the ~eat property line of Texas Avenue; THEHJE East across the.
straight extension of Texas Avenue as it is extended to the South to the in-
tersection of a line which is parallel to and 15' Southwesterly from the pro-.
jection of the curved side of Lot 1, Block J, May and Jones Subdivision; THEaiCE
South easterly along a curve to the left and a small tangent portion and a curve
to the right at all times being 15 1 from and parallel to the present property
lines of the lots on the North end of Block 3, May and Jones SUbdivision, to
the intersection of the South line of Lot 11, Block J, May and Jones Subdi-
vision; THENJE continuing on a curve to the right of the same radius as the
' last course to the intersection of the We~t property line of Avenue H, said
point being in the East property line of Lot 10, Block .3, May and Jones Sub-
division and 1201 East of the East line of a 20 foot alley in said Block .3;
THENCE South to the North property line of 3oth Street at the Southeast cor-
ner of Lot 9-said Block .3.
On the East side of such street the building line ii described as followsl
Beginning at a point in the South property line of 19th Street and in the North
line of Survey 7, Block B, said point being in the projection of a line which
is parallel to and 15 • East of the East property line of Texas A. venue; THE IDE
South along a line which is parallel to and 15 1 East of the East property line
of Texas A.ven~, said line being also parallel to and 127' West of the West
line of a 12 foot alley in Block 1 1 Dupree Addition, to a point in the North
property line of 2.3rd Streetl THENCE South continuing on the same course a-
long a line which is parallel to and 15' East of the East property line of
Texas Avenue, said line being parallel to and approximately 25' East of the
East curb line of the present Texas Avenue pavement to a point in the North
property line of 25th Street; THENCE South westerly to a point in the South
property line of 25th Street 15' East of the Northeast corner of Lot 12, Block
1, J. W. Ellioon Addition; THENCE South along a line parallel to and 15 1 East
of the East property line of Texas Avenue to a point in the South line of Lot
?, Block 1, J. W. Ellison Addition; THENJE South along a line which is parallel
to and 162' East of the West line of Block 1, Harkey Addition and along a line
which is parallel to and 265 1 West of the East line of Tracts 1, 4 and 5, Har-
key Addition; THENCE in a Southeasterly direction along a curve which is parM
allel to and 15' Northeasterly from the Northeasterly property line of the
curved portion of Texas Avenue extending to Avenue H along a curve to the left
along a tangent portion and along a curve to the right to the intersection of
the West property line of Avenue H at a point in the East line of Lot 5, Block
2, May and Jones Subdivision; THENCE East to the !East property line of Avenue
H; THENCE South along the East property line of Avenue H and the West line of
Block 10, Morning Side Addition to the North property line of 30th Street •

Section 2. That a building line is hereby established on the West side and
on the East side of Texas Avenue from the South line of Block 1, May and Jones
Subdi~ision to the North line of JOth Street, to-witt
The building line on the West side of such street being as follows:
Beginning at a point in the South line of Block 1, May and Jones Subdivi-
sion and in the North line of Lot 1, Block 1, Texas Avenue ~dition, said
point being 102.5' East of the Northwest corner of said lot; THENCE South
along a line which is parallel to and 15 1 West of the West property line of
Texas Avenue to a point in the North property line of JOth Street.
On the East side of such street the building line is as follows:
Beginning at a point in the South line of Lot 8, Block J, May and Jones
Subdivision, said point being 125 1 West of the Southeast corner of said Lot
8; THEIDE North along a line which is parallel to and 15 1 East of the East
property line of Texas Avenue to the intersecti:on of the Northeasterly prop-
erty line of Lot 1, Block J, May and Jones Subdivision.
Section J. That a building line is hereby established on the West side
of ~venue H and on the East side of Avenue H from JOth Street to J4th Street,

The building line on the west side of such street being described as
follows:
Beginning at a point in the South property line of 3oth Street 50 1 West
of the East line of the West one-half of Survey 7, Block B, Lubbock County,
Texas, said point being 12.5 1 West of the Northeast corner of Block 1, E. K.
Hufstedler Subdivision; THEIDE South along a line which is parallel to and
50 1 West of the East line of the West one-half of said Survey 7, Block B,
to a point in the North property line of 34th Street.
The building line on the East side of this portion of Avenue H being de-
scribed as follows:
Beginning at the Northwest corner of tot 8, Block J, Sunshine Addition;
'l'HEIDE South along a line which is parallel to and 40' East of the East line
of the West one-half Survey 7, Block B, Lubbock County, Texas, to the inter•
section of the projection of the North property line of 34th Street.
Section 4. That a building line is hereby established on the West side
and on the East siae of Avenue G from 19th Street to 25th Street, to-wit;
The building lin-e on the :Jest side of Avenue G is described as follows&
Beginning at a point in the South property line of 19th Street, said point
beiDg in the North property' line of Survey 7, Block B and at the Northeast
corner of Lot 48, Hart Addition; THENCE South along the East line of Hart
Addition and the West property line of Avenue G to a point in the North line
of Block 43, .Merrill's Addition; THENCE East to a point which is 15 1 West of
the Northeast corner of Lot 6, said Block 4J; THENCE South along a line which
is parallel to and 15 1 West of the Rest property line of ~venue G, said line

being parallel to and 132.5 1 East of the East line of a 20 foot alley in Blocks
43, 1, 2 and 3, Merrill 1 s Addition, to the North property line of 25th Street.
The building line on the East side of Avenue G being described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the East property line of Avenue G and in the North
line of Survey 7, Block B; THENCE South along the East property line of Avenue
G and the ·West property line of the property belonging to the Ft. Worth and Den-
ver Railroad, to the ~nterseotion of the projection of the South property line
of 25th Street.
Section 5. That a building line is hereby established on the West side of
Avenue H and on the East side of ~venue H from a point approximately 200 feet
North of the North property line of Sanders Street to 4th Street, to-wit:
The building line on the West side of such part of Avenue H being described
as follows'
Beginning at a point which is in a line parallel to and. 40 1 Northwesterly
from the centerline of the concrete slab pavement on Avenue H North of San•
ders Street, such point being also in the West property line of Avenue H as
the same ~s now located on the ground; THENCE Southwesterly on a curve par-
allel to and 40 1 Westerly from the centerline of the 20 foot concrete slab
pavement to a point in the North property line of Sanders Street; THENCE South
to a point in the North line of Lot 1, Block 8, Liff Sanders Addition 125'
East of the Northwest corner of said Lot 1; THENCE South along a line which
is parallel to and 125 1 East of the West line of Blocks 8, 7 and 6·, and along
the projection of such -line to a point in the North property liqe of 4th Street.
The building line on the East side of Avenue H from a point approximately
200' North of the North property line of Sanders Street to 4th Street is de•
scribed as follows&
Beginning at a point 200 feet North of the North property line of Sanders
Street and in the East property line of the State Highw$J right•of-way; THENCE
Southwesterly along the Eastern property line of said highway to the North
property line of Sanders Street; THENCE Southwesterly to the Northeast cor-
ner of Lot 1, Block 2, Lift Sanders Addition; THENCE South along the East
property line of Avenue H to the North property line of 4th Street.
Section 6. That a building line is hereby established on the West side
and on the East side of Avenue Q from 18th Street to 19th Street, to-wit:
The building line on the West side of such part of Avenue Q being described
as follows:
Beginning at a point in the North line of Lot 1, Block 5, Overton Addition
25' West of the Northeast corner of said Lot 1; THENCE South parallel to the
West property line of Avenue ~ to a point in the South line of Lot 8, Ebck 5,
Overton Addition 25' West of the Southeast corner said Lot 8.
The building line on the East side o£ such part of Avenue Q being de-
scribed as follows:

Be~inning at the Northwest corner of Lot 12, Block 4, Overton Addition;
THENCE South along the East property line of Avenue Q to the North line of
19th Street.
Section 7. That no building or other structure shall be erected, recon-
structed or substantially repaired and no new building or other structure or
part thereof shall be erected or re-erected between or within the building
lines established by this ordinance.
Section 8. That all structures on and between any building line estab-
lished by this ordinance or extending in whole or in part within such building
lines, are hereby required to conform to the new building lines established by
Sections 1 to 6 inclusive within a period of not more than five years from the
effective date of this ordinance.
Section 9. It shall be unlawful for aqy person, firm, corporation, trustee
or ~ authorized agent or representative thereof to erect, reconstruct or sub-
stantially repair a~ building or other structure, or to erect or re·erect aQf
new building or other structure within or between the building lines established
and described in Sections 1 to 6 inclusive of this ordinance and whoever shall
violate aqy provisions of this section shall, upon conviction, be fined not ex-
ceeding $100.00
Section 10. The provisions of Section 9 of this ordinance shall not apply
to ~ officer, agent, emplqyee or other person duly authorized by the State
of Texas anq/or the City of Lubbock when performing ~ employment pursuant
to the widening, straightening or extension of the street and/or right-of-way
contemplated by this ordinance,
