AN CIU>INANCE ~TABLISBING BUILDING LINES ON THAT PART ar AVENUE J FROM
19TH STREET TO 26TH STREET IN THE CITY <F LUBBOOK, TEXAS, AND PROHIBITING
PLACING OF BUILDINGS OR OTHER STROOTURES, OR REPJ.m at RmONSTRU::TION BETWEEN
SJ.ID LINES, IN FURTHEIWJCE OF WIDENING, STRAIGHTENING AND IMPROVING SWH P.&RT,
AND ESTABLISHING TIME FOR EXISTING STRIDTUR.ES TO CONFcmt.
WHEREAS, Article ll05a, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, provides tor the
establisbaent ot BUILDIOO LINES on I1D\T part or side ot &IV' street in the City
ot Lubbock, said City of Lubbock baviDg a population of more than Fifteen Thou-
sand (15,000), aDd,
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City ot Lubbock desires to establish a
building line in connection with the widening, straightening and improvillg of
that part or Avenue J in said City from 19th Street to 26th Street, to prevent
further buildings, structures, t.rees or improvements ot &.JJy nature being place4
within the area required for such needed wideniQg, straightening and iaproving
and,
WHEREAS, some abuttiDg property owners have dedicated portions of affected
tracts of land 8lJd lots to widen, straighten and improve said street aild the
establishment of such building lines w111 ultimat~ provide a street of de-
sirable width which will aid in relieving heavy trattio between down town
and iDdustrial Lubbock, aDd the Zoni.Dg CoBJJDission has recommended such ia-

Section 1. That a building line is hereby established on the West side
of Avenue J between 19th Street and 26th Street, to-wita
Beginning in the South property line or 19th Street at a point 40 feet East
of the Northwest corner, Lot 1, Block 1, of the Mrs. I. A. Boyd SubdivisiODJ

.Mrs. I. A. Boyd Subdivision, 120 feet East of the Northwest corner of said Lot
13; THEWE South parallel to and 120 feet East of the West line or the East
one-half of Block 1, Mrs. I. A. Boyd Subdivision, to the North property line

Beginning at a point in the South property line ot 19th Street, 200 teet

said pointlbeing in the last property line of a portion of Avenue J; ~E
South approximately 156.75 feet; THENCE West 10 teet; THElt:}E South along a
line which is parallel to and 110.6 feet West of the East property line of
the West one-halt of Block 2, Dupree Addition, to a point in the .North line
of 23rd Street; THENCE Southeasterly,_crossing 23rd Street to a point in the
South property line of 23rd Street, 187.1 feet East of the Northwest corner,

Section 3. That no building or other structures shall be erected, recon•
strueted or substantially repaired, and no new building or other structures,
or part thereof, shall be erected or re·erected on Avenue J within said lines
so established.
Section 4. That all structures on Avenue J now exteDding within such build•
ing lines are hereby required to coDf'orm to the new buUding line established
by Sections 1 and 2 of this ordina:Dce, within a period of not more than five ( 5)
years from the effective date of this ordinance.
