Sf. ) (LIVE STOCK ZONING ORDIN4NCE) Al~ ORDINANCE PERMITTING THE KEE.PING OR OPERATING OF HORSE AND/OR MULE BARNS AND/OR OAT'rLE BARNS: REGULATING THE MANNER OF SUCH KEEPING: PROVIDING FOR THE Il~SPECTION THEREOF: AND :PROVIDING A PE NALTY FOR VIOLATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS: SECTION I. fhat from and after the 1st day of April A-D· 1936, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to keep, main- tain or operate any horse and/or mule barn, and/or cattle barn with1l the zone herein defined in Section III hereof, unless the floor or floors where any of said animals may be permitted to run, or be ke pt shall be covered With some character of water proof material that will prevent the accumulation of mud and filth within said barn or barns so used for said purpose. SECTION II. By the term horse barn, and/or mule barn, and/or cattle barn is meant any place within the zone described in Section III hereof where more than ~ head of horses and/or mules, or where more than ( head of cattle may be kept by any person, firm or corporationin'tlie same premises, inclosure, pens ·or barns, or lot, or contiguous lots for a period of more than 24 hours. SECTION III. SEC'riON rv. All water trough or trough~ that may be kept or main- tained within, or in connection With such barn or barns referred to and described in Sections I and II of this Ordinance shall be constructed, kept or maintained upon a cement floor extending out in each direction from the outer edges of said trough or troughs from which live stock kept t h erein may be permitted to drink or water,&a aiBba~oe of :aet lese than fee'&~ such cement floor or floors to be constructed in such manner as to prevent water or other liquid substances from running therefrom, other than into the sewer system of the City of Lubbock, as is required in Section V of this Ordinance. SECT.ION v. Connection shall be made by the person, firm or corpora- tion operating or keeping such barn or barns as herein described in Sections I and II of this Ordinance from such cement floor or floors surrounding said water troug h or troughs With the sewer system of the City of Lubbock, etc. {Here describe the kind of sewer connection required including trap screens, etc.) SECTION vr. There shall be constructed and!maintained at all times by the person, firm or corporation operating such barn or barns as described in Sections I and II of t h Li Ordina n ce, around the outer boundary or boundaries of said ~emises where such barn or barns described in Sections I and II her~,;hall be kept or main- tained a curb or curbs not less than inches in height above the level of the water-~oof floor or loors of such barn or barns, which curb or curbs shall be constructed of some char- acter of material that Will prevent manure or trash or other ac- cumulations within said barn or barns from escaping therefrom onto the adjoining or adjacent premises thereto. SECTION VII. The keeper, owner or operator of such barn or barns as defined in Sections I and II hereof shall clean all manure, trash and dungings therefrom daily, and haul the same off of said premise~ daily. ..... SECTION VIII. Such barn or barns shall at all times be subject to the inspection of the police, sanitary and governing authorities ~ of the City of Lubbock. SEOT.ION IX. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the .Provisions of this ordinance shall be punished by fine not exceed- ing $2oo.oo, and each day that any provision of this ordinance shall be violated shall be considered a separate offense.
