BE I T ORDAINED BY 1'HE CITY COMHISSION OF THE CITY OF LUB BOCK, TEX.ASt SECTION I: No person working for pay shall engage ih any business or occupation in the City of Lubbock where he or she handles foods, drinks, drugs, or laundry, or who follows the business or occupation requiring such person to perform service upon or come in contact with the person of another, such as nurses, barbers, manicurists, beauti- cians, man servants or maid servants, unless such person holds a . health certificate issued by the City tlealth Officer of the City of Lubbock ,not more than six months old, showing that such person was· examined by said Health Officer within said period and found to be free o~ cured of Syphilis and uonor~hea,or any other cont$gtous or . infect•ous diseases. This section shall not apply to licensed physicians. SECTION 2r Before my person engages in any occupation or work enumerated in Section 1. he or she shall first be exrumined by the City Health Officer of the City of Lubbock for the diseases mentioned in said section, e.nd pennit said Health Officer to make necessary blood teet. l .f and when such person passes said examination showing him to be free of diseases mentioned in Section 1 hereof, said nealth Officer shal l then and there issue to such person an official certifica te ~ showing that· said person is free from or cured of said dis~a.see. l:iaid Health Officer shall date and number such certificate and show the name a nd address of the person to whom issued, and keep a record thereof showing the same facts. Said examination shall be made and said cer- tificate issued without charge to such person. J.f such neal th Officer finds one or more of said diseases upon examination, and later such person reports that he or she has been cured, the City tlea~th Officer sha ll make another examinati on, and if he finds that such person is free or cured of such disease or diseases he shall then issue the aforesaid health certificate. SECTION 3: In making the aforesaid examina tion, the .l:iealth Officer shall have a re~eonable time in which to complete tbe examination and test before issuing or refusing certificate. Such person shall be required to report for further examination upon request of said .ttealth Officer, who shall also have the right upon examina tion to cancel any certificate issued in the event he finds that any such person is or has become a~flicted with any of said diseases, and shall have the right to cancel any such certificate in case any such person fails or refuses to report for said examination or further examination. The Uity rtealth Officer or his assistant shall have the right, and it ia hereby made his duty, regularly to visit all places where any of such persona are working and demand examination an~or exhibition of healt~ certificates. SECTION 4: Any person viol a ting any provision of this ordinance shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in any sum not ex.ceeding ;wloo.oo. SECTION 5r lbe fact that the foregoing diseases are known t o medical science to be dangerous and communicable, and threaten and impair the public health, this ordinance is passed ih the interest and for the protection of the public welfare and safety. I r.E IT ORDAINED ~y 1'HE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUJ3BOCK, '.1'1!AAS: SECTICN 1: Hereafter before any person engages in the occupation of a peddler, hawker, itinerant merchant, or transient vendor, o~ merchandise in the City of Lu'bbock, such person shall first obtain from the City TaX Collector of the City of Lubbock, fexas, a license to engage in such occupation. ~aid license shall state the name and residence of the person to whom issued, the period for which issued, and be o~ficially signed by said Uity Tax Collector with his seal of office affixed. '.Lhe City :L'ax Collector shall keep a duplicate record of said license. $aid license shall not be assignable and shall not authorize more than one person to peddle at the same time. Said certificate shall be exhibited to the Uity Tax Collector or any police officer upon demand made of cnyone following the occupation of a peddler. When such license is issued the person obtaining same shall also at the same time pay said City I ·tax Col lee tor the annual licen2e fee of ~10.00. .No license shall be issued for a longer period than twelve months. \ SECTION 2t No person shall engage in such occupation of a peddler without obtaining such license and paying such license fee. SECTION 3t ..tt;ach dayr s violation of this ordinance shall constitute a separate offense and be punishable by a fine not exceeding .~loo.oo. SF.CTION 4: ~his ordinance shall not ~ply to the sale of bread, milk~ butter, eggs, meat, vegetablea or other agricultural products gro1~ by the seller, the sale of some of which is already governed by ordinance. lieither shall this ordinance apply to any person who is more than sixty years of age or who is under fifteen years of age, or who is blind or deaf or dumb, or who has lost one hand or one ~oot, or who is per:manently disabled. SECTION 5z 'l'his ordinance is cumulative of other ordinances, and shall not be construed aa re~ealing any other ordinance. SECTION 6: Should any part of this ordinance be declared un- constitutional or invalid, such declaration shall not impair the remainder of the ordinance. .
