HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 503-1933 - Making It Unlawful To Operate Marble Tables Withot Obtaining A Permit - 02/09/1933oz-o9-t~ ORDINANCE NO, ~ AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO OPERATE MARBLE TABLES WITHOUT FIRST OBTAINING PERMIT FROM THE CITY SECRETARY AND PAYING A LICENSE FEE TO THE CITY TAX COLLEC• TOR, AND FIXING PENALTY FOR EACH VIOLATION. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS:: SECTION 1:: That on and after April 1, 1933, it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to operate for pay in the city of Lubbock, Texas, a ma• chine, table or device, generally known as a marble table, upon which the player shoots marbles or other balls for the purpose of making them lodge in certain numbered posi- tions, without first applying to and obtaining from the City Secretary a written permit stating the name and ad- dress of the operator, the place and street number where said machine, table or device is to be operated, and the period of time it is ~o be operated. SECTION 2: It shall be unlawful for any per- son, firm or corporation to operate for pay any such ma- chine, table or device without having paid to the City Tax Collector of Lubbock, Texas, in advance, a license fee of $20.00 per month for each and every month per ma- chine, table or device so operated. SECTION 3~ The foregoing license fee shall be paid in advance on or before the 1st day of each month for the privilege of operating such machine. table or de- vice for said month. In the event there is to be e change in the operator. or the place of operation, the operator shall obtain written permit from the City Secretary covering such change. SECTION 4: The City Secretary shall keep a record of ell such permits. SECTION 5s Each day•s violation shall consti- tute a separate offense end be punishable by fine of not less than $1.00 or more than $50.00.
