or TAXICAB Atrn BUSSES fOR HIRE WITHII THE OITY OF LUBBOC!:;
REQUIRIH~ PERMITS AND SURETY BONDS OR INSURANCE POLI CIES;
MAKING IT UNLAWFUL TO OPERATE WITHOUT, AND P.RESOR~BING
PENALTY.
BE IT ORDAIIED BY THE CITY COlDliBSIOB OF THE OI'l'Y
or LUBBOOX:
1. That it shall be unlawfUl for any person, firm,
partnership, or corporation, to operate a taxicab or bus,
for the transportation of passengers for hire, within the
corpo~ate limits of the City of Lubbock, without first
having obtained from said Oity Commission of Lubbock a
permit to run said taxicab or bue.
2. lo permit shall be issued to any person to
operate a bus or taxicab in the Oity of Lubbock for carry-
ing passengers for hire, unless he be twenty-one years
of age and of good moral character.
3. No permit to run or operate any taxioab or
bus shall be issued to any person, partnership, firm, or
corporation, unless the City Commission shall, after in-
vestigation, be of the opinion that there is a public need
for suoh taxicab or bus service.
4. lo person, firm, or corporation shall be issued
a permit to run and operate a taxicab oT bus within the
city limits of the City of Lubbock until such person, firm,
or corporation, shall first file with the City Commission
of Lubbook, Texas, a surety bond or an insurance policy
in some standard insurance oompany, doing business in
Texas, on each and every oab or taxicab operated, said
bond or policy to indemnify every person against damage

to pefson or property, as a result of negligent or unlaw-
ful operation of such bus or taxicab, whioh policy should
provide for the loss or damage of Property of anyone
other than the assured in the amount of One Thousand
(tlOOO.OO) Dollars; for bodily injury to or death of one
person in any one accident in the amount of Five Thousand
($5000.00) Dollars; for bodily injury to or death of
more than one person in any one accident, in the amount
of Ten Thousand(810,000) Dollars, which policy may be
sued upon by any injured party, and the bond or policy
shall so provide, ~but which shall have such effect
whether so provided or not, provided that if any one
person shall operate a fleet of as many as ten cars, he
may in lieu of a bond for each oar file such a policy
or bond of $25,000.00, and if operating more than ten
cars and not more than twenty-five he shall file a policy
or bond for tso,ooo.oo.
5. Provided that if any person, partnership, firm,
or corporation, shall haul passengers or operate a taxi-
cab, within the Oity limits of Lubbock, without first
obtaining a permit, or filing suoh policy or bond, shall
be fined in a sum not less than $50.00, nor more than
$100.00, and each passenger hauled shall constitute a
separate offense.
6. The City Commission of the City of Lubbock
shall have the right to canoel any permit at any time
after hearing on due notice to the holder thereof, on
obargee of drunkenness or handling or transporting in-
toxicating liquor, or any other misconduct on the part
of such permit holder.
7. If any section or part of this act 1s held to
be invalid, void, or unconstitutional, it Bhall not
effect the validity of the remaining portion of this
aet.
8. No parmi t shall b·e issued for longer term than
one year, and the insurance policy or surety bond shall
be kept in force for the length of the permit and no per-
mit shall be transferable without the consent of the
Oity Commission.
9. The City Secretary shall keep record of per-
mits, insurance policies, surety bonds, etc.
