ADJUSTMENT AND RE-"- PAIR THEREOF; FIXING ADDITJ;ONAL INSFBCTION FEE, FIXING PENALTY FOR VIOLATION; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXASt SECTION l& That gas ordinance No. 350 here- tofore passed by the City crommission of the City of Lub- bock, Texas, be amended by adding thereto the following: provisions, ,SECTION 2t No refund of the annual license fee or any part thereof will be made to aeyone who ceases to do business during the year. '1 SJ£CTION 3& Service pipe from main to building must be one and one-fourth (l¾) inches inside ·diameter or larger. ;<.No pipe less than one (l) inch inside diameter will be permitted on hori~ontal run for more than one open• ing. Use of-finch inside diameter pipe will be permitted , on horiz.ontal run for only one opening. x., Vertical pipes or risers in two and three story buildings must be¾ inch inside diameter for one opening, and l inch inside diameter or larger for two or more open-s ings, depending on the number of openings. / }', The use of street ells will be permitted at the meter loop only when the street ell is placed on riser, \..._ then screwing ell on streetell, making ell l.ook down fr am the property ownerts half of meter loop. Bushings or plugs are prohibited. SECTION 4t Unions and valves must not be used in service lines, use right and left hand coupling instead. SECTION 5t In the Fire Limits no metal or tubber tubing will be permitted, but all gas using appliances shall be connected up solid. Outside the Fire Limits the use of metal or rubbe? tubing will be permitted, provided no cut off is used between the appliance and the tuping except no netal or rubber tub- ing will be permitted in connecting appliances used for cook- ing purposes or connecting water heaters. SECTION 6t In addition to the fees provided, a fee of 75¢ shall be charged for inspecting installation of all water heaters for heating water by the use of gas. No person, firm or corporation, shall install or connect such hot water heater unless the same be provided with a metal hood to which shall be connected a suitable ventilating pipe not leas than the size of the heater opening and said pipe v'shall extend to a chimney flue or to the open air above the roof. Where vent pipes pass through woodwork same shall be protected with metal vent thimbles. In case such ventilat- ing pipe shall extend to open air, it shall be provided with a cap or cowl, so as to prevent back draft. Where hot water heaters are placed in closets, it will be necessary to put a loc~l vent ten inches in diam- eter in the ceiling of the closet in addition to the vent pipe provided above; provided that in cases ~~~are it is impracticable to vent through ceiling a vent 8"Xl011 1n lower part of closet door will be permitted. ~~. •·
