HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 325-1925 - Canvassing The Returns And Declairing The Result Of An Election In Lubbock. - 12/11/1925-[ ORDINANCE NO.~ AN ORDINANCE CANVASSING THE RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULT OF AN ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TEXAS ON DECEMBER lOth. 1925, ON PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK TEXAS SAID AMENDMENTS THUS SUBMITTED AND VOTED ON PROPOUNDED TO THE VOTERS THE FOLLOWING QUESTIONS. Amendment No. 1-Do you vote to amend the present city charter of the City of Lubbock Texas, by amending and changing Section 15, of Article 2, Chapter 1, relating to street improvements and assessments and re-assessments: Answer: YES. NO, Amendment No. 2-Do you vote to amend the present city charter by adding Section 5 Article 8, Chapter 1, relating to advertisement of sales of bonds : Answer: YES NO endment No. 3.-Do you vote to amend the present city charter of the City of Lubbock, Texas, by adding Sections 1, 2, 3 and 4, Article 1, Chapter 3, relating to creation of Board of City Development? Answer: YES. No. endment No. 4.-Do you vote to amend the present city charter of the City of Lubbock, Texas, by amending and changing Section 9 of Article 3, Chapter 1, relating to compensation of officers of City Court. Answer: ~~ NO. endment No. 5.-Do you vote to amend the present city charter of the City of Lubbock, Texas, by amending and changing Section 14, Article 9, Chapter 1, elating to compensation of Mayor and City Commissioners. E IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS. SECTION 1: That there was submitted to the qualified voters of the City of 0 ( Lubbock, Texas, on December lOth., 1925, in accordance with law, an election for the purpose of passing on the question of adopting amendments to the City Charter of the City of Lubbock, Texas, the questions thus submitted and votes on reading as follows: Amendment No. 1-Do you vote to amend the present city charter of the City of Lubbock Texas, by amending and changing Section 15, of Article 2, Chapter 1, relating to street improvements and assessments and re-assessments: Answer; YES. NO. Amendment No. 2·Do you vote to amend the present city charter by adding Section 5 Article 8, Chapter 1, relating to advertisement of sales of bonds: Answer: YES. NO. Answer: YES. ·~. ECTION 2. That the qualified voters voted on said questions at the polls and cast their ballots and answered the foregoing questions as follows: On amendment No. One 342 voters answered Yes, and 289 voters answered No. ,· r c ( ' \ t On Amendment No. Two 418 voters answered ¥as and 200 answered No. On Amendment No. Three 404 voters answered Yes and 223 answered No. On Amendment No. Four 3M voters answered Yes and 240 answered No. On Amendment No. Five 387 voters answered Yes and 237 answered No . On Amendment No. Six 387 voters answered Yes and 236 answered No. On Amendment No. Seven 353 voters answered Yea, and 231 answered No. There were only 635 votes in all cast at said election and a majority thereof was cast in the affirmative in answer to each of said questions. SECTION 3. The City Commission has duly canvassed the election returns, and finds that a •ajority of the qualified voters favored the adoption of all said amendments and that they have legally carried, been adopted and .approved SECTION 4. It is thereofre ordered that said proposed amendments be considered and they are hereby approved and adopted and made a part of the charter of City of Lubbock, Texas, and that a copy of said ordinance ordering said election as well as this Ordinance be recorded at length in the minutes and records of said city PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED at regular meeting this 11th. day of December, 192 1 • ATTEST: J, R.
