SECTION 1. The ter~e City, and Inspector. as used herein, shall be construed to mean the Chief Inape.ctor of Electrical Department, which is hereby created such office to be ~illed by the Commissto~ SECTION 2. Duties of ~ity Inspector on Electrical Work• ~ The ~ity I~spector shall collect and account for the £eea and deposits herein fixed,. and provided for. issue perm.i ts and certi:fica tea. make inspections. and per:f'om.t such other acts and duties as nre in this and other Ordinances of the City of Lubbock specified. SECTION 3• In order to insure the pt:\Y'ment of fees and charges herein fixed,. and in order th~t all eleetacal work covered by this Ordinance shal;v6e m de to mmpl7 with the requirements of this Ordinance when an application to do any electrica l work is made, a general deposit or $25.00 shall be made, and maintained by the Electri4 Light Dep a rtment by each persnn, firm o~ corpor a tion, desiring to do Electrical work covered by this Ordinance, Said deposit shall cover a ny a nd all work to be performed under this Ordinance by such person, fir.m or corporation and a Surety Bond of $l,ooo.oo, shall be 'furnished conditioned for f~.ithful performance, and compliance •d th the O.r d tna ncea of the C 1 ty. After the certifiette of Inspection on all work done by such owner has been issued, said deposit shall be returned up •1 n demand. Kinor repairal After the original inspection of fixtures, if fixtures are changed or replaced with other fixtures wh e re circuit wires without change of size arc run direct into· reeeptacle of s~id changes or re- placed fixtures., no fixture permit or inspection shall be raquire4J however, if such ch~nged or replaced fixtures requireG a ch~nge in the size ot wire. a p~rcit and inspection are required. All Electrical wiring hereafter installed within the fire zone, or ~onee shall be encased in approYed metal caaduit. a~ored cable or metal moulding.,. SECTI ON 21. Pipest Af'ter i nspect i on, n.o pipe or other me t a l wo r k sha ll be placed nearer than three inches to any electric work without first notifying the Inspector, so that said wires maybe inspected a nd protected. In such cases all requirements of the Inspector as to pl ~cing of the wire• or work, and a s t o the installation thereof• sha ll tul ly be complied wi~. l'he f e e for such inspeo tiou shall be the same as :f or any re•inspection. SECTION 22. Any person insta lling such system in conflict vlth 1he above rule shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and punishable as provided in this Ordinance. SECTIOll 23. When under the terms of this Ordinance wiring ie required to be pre• .tected by conduit, the inspection notice shall be filed with the inspec~ as soon as the conduit is installed, so that it may be inspected before being concealed. When wiring or conduit has been made to comply with the rules, the Inspector shall le ~ve a certificate of' inspection ~ttac b ed to the meter loop or other convenient location. stating that the wiring or conduit has been passed nnd may be concealed. SRC'l'ION 25. Any pera> n removing . destroying. or ctetacing one of these approval cards or any l a ther, ca rp ~nter or any other person conee ~ling any wiring or conduit ~h ich has not been approved, as indic ~t e d b y the presence o ~ the Insp ection eert1~1ca te, shall be gui J ty of a mis- demeanor. and puni s h ab le a s p rovided in this Ordinance. SECTION 26. When a wiring contr a ctor is notified of changes r equired in ~ing to be concealed, he must m~ke such changes at onee, a nd in all cases he must notifY the inspector immedi a tely upon making the chn n~es. SECTION 2'1. Bo wiring or equipment shall be connected, or mP.ter inata l led, until a final certific~t~ has been issued except as p~ovided in Section ~1. SECTION 28. SECt-ION 29. Heaters: All h~aters ~t be figured at not less than 1500 watts, so marked and wired with not less than llo. 10 R 1: S Guage wire. EmDTI ON 31 ... Any person viol ~ting any por t.1on of this Ordinance shall be pun1she4 by a fine of not leas than $10.00 and not more than $200 •. 00. SECTION 32. City not liablet This Ordinance shall not be construed to relieve from or lessen the responsiblity of any person, f!r.m or coP.Poration owning, pperating, controlling, or installing any electrical ~iring• connections. fixtures, appliances appare.tus, machinery, equipment of work, inside, outside, overhead or underground in the City o~ Lubbock, for damages ~o any one injured by defect therein. nor shall the Clt7 of Lnbbock, for dam~=~.ges to any one inJured b :; defect therein nor shall the 6ity be held as assuming any liability by reason of the inspection authorized herein or certific ~te .issue4 as herein provided, or by reason of any or the ma tte rs or things h~ein provided for. a nd regula ted. SECTION 33. Any person, fir.m or corporation. desiring to install, alter. ndd to. connect• or change any inside electrical wiring. connections, fixtures. appliances, appar:-atus, machineey., or work, or to set any electric meter within the City of Lubbock~ shall, before doing eo. make application in writing to the Inspector for a p e rm i t therefor, except that no fee shall be charg ed any central powe r company for any permit issued9 con- cerning inst ~ll a tion in it•s own pla nt. It shall be unlawful to hang or fix in position, any electric sign or sign designed for use as an electric sign, or which maybe used as an e lectric sign until such sign shall have been inspected b~ the Inapectr. Temporary worka When a permit to install work of a temporary character for a time to be specified in such permit, and not in any case to ex- ceed sixty days~ shall have been issued by the Inspector a strict co~ pliance with the foregoing rules of permanent work will not be exacted• provided the character of the work is entirely safe for the perio;tl designated in the permit.
