HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 272-1924 - Ordinance Issuing Bond Sum Of 25,000. - 11/06/1924. ) --· J Ordinance lfo. ~ / ~ AH ORDINANCE Whereby the question of issuing bonds of this City in the sum of tZ.s,oc:ro,.o bearing semiannual interest at a rate not grea ter than 6 per oent, suoh bonds payable aerially over a period not greater than forty years from date of issuance, for the purpose of ex- tending and improving the Sanitary Sewer sys- tem of this City, may be issued fixing the date and place of euoh election providing for notice thereof, appointing the officers to hold the same, and declaring emergency on account of the necessity of improvements in such sys- tem because of the inoreas ~ of ~eople to be served thereby. Be it ordained by the City of Lubbock, Texass Section 1. An election is hereby ordered to be held at the office of the City Secretary in this City on the / day of~, 1"/:Z 1 at the usual hours, Whereat the duly qualified property taxps.ying voters of this Ci_~y may de- termine if bonds of the City shall be issued as herea.fter set out. Section 2. A duly certified copy of this Ordinanae published in a newspaper in this City and posted at three public pla.ces within the Oi ty, as required by law, for thirty days preceeding such election, shall be sufficient notice thereof. , a.A. Section 3. Those desiring to vote in favor of the issuance of such bonds shall have written or printed on their be.llots------"For ·the issuance of $25000.00 of Sanitary Sewer bonds and for the levy of a~ax sufficient. to pay the in~rest as it aoorues, and for a sinking ~d to retire the bonds at their maturity". And those opposed to the issuance of such bonds sh a ll have written or printed on their ballots----"Against the issuance of $25,000.00 Sanitary Sewer bonds, and the levy of a tax sufficient to pay the interest as it ac- crues, and for a sinking fund to retire the bonds at their maturity": and, if a majority of the vot- a.;e- ers, voting ~ suoh election shall vote in favor of the issuance of such bonds, same will be issued, and a tax levied upon all property within this City subject to taxation sufficient to pay the in- terest as it accrues, and to create a sinking fund to retire such bonds at their maturity. Section 4. The following persons are appointed as j~dges to hold such election w,~~v~~ • I and they shall make return of such election as is required by law. Section 5. The fact that there are not suffic- ient Sanitary Sewer lines and disposal plants for ·II • r ....._,~ the needs of the citizens of this City, creates an emergency and public necessity that the rule of the Charter requiring Ordinances to be read in two sev- eral meetings before passage by, and the same is hereby eusp~nded, and this Ordinance passed by un· . antmous vote ~the meeting of its introduction. · and it is so ordered.
