HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 264-1924 - Prohibiting The Placing Of Stickers, ETC Upon Any Vehicle. - 08/14/1924I I ----__J ORDINANCE NO. 264 AN ORDINANCE PROHIBITING THE PLACING OF STICDRS , POSTERS, PAPERS, AND TAGS IN, ON, OR UPON MIY VEHICLE NOT THE PROPERTY OF THE PERSON SO PLACING SUCH STICKERS, POSTERS, OR TAGS, IN TIUS CITY AND FIXING A PENALTY FOR VIOLATION THEREOF, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY ON ACOOUNT OF THE INJURY TO AND DEFACEMENT OF SUCH VEHICLE BEING COMMONLY PRAcriSED. BE IT ORDAINED BY 'lEE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS. SECT10N 1. No person shall within the limits of this city place any sticker, poster, paper, or tag in, on, or upon any vehicle not the property of the person so performing such act. SECTION 2. The above shall not apply to any Peace Officer in the dischar of their duties of having oars tagged for violation of laws or ordinances. SECTION 3. Any person convicted of the offense named in Section!, shall be punished by fine not less than $5.00 and not more than $100.00. SEcriON 4. The fact that divers persons commonly resort to placing stickers, posters, papers, and tags on and in vehicles not their own, for advertising purposes and such acts soil, deface and injure such vehicle and creates an emergency and public necessity that the rule of the Charter re- quiring ordinances to be read at more than one meeting before passage being and the same is, hereby suspended and this ordinance enacted at the meeting of its introduction and it is so ordered. Passed by and ', unanimously voted and approved this August 14, 1924.
