AN ORDINANCE levying a tax upon all property subject to taxation within
the City of Lubbock, Texas, for the support of the City for the year 1924
apportioning said levy among the various funds and items for which revenue
must he raised, levy a poll tax upon a certain class of persons levying
an occupation tax on all occupations taxable, and fixing the time within
which said taxes and poll taxes must be paid, assessing penalties and in-
terest for non-payment of suoh taxes within the time set and declaring an
emergency account of nearness of the end of the year.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OOUNCIL(COMMISSION)OF THE CITY CP LUBBOCK:, TEXAS:
Section 1. There shall be levied and assessed upon all property subject to
taxation within the City of Lubbock, Texas, for the year 1924, the sum of
one Hundred Dollar valuation thereof, and same shall be applied to the
various funds in the following manner.

Section 2. All persons residing within the City of Lubbock, Texas on the
first day of January, 1924, and not exempt by the qeneral laws of this
State1 between the ages of 21 years and 60 years, shall pay a poll tax
of one Dollar.
Section 3. All Ad Valorem Taxes shall be paid before the first day of Feb.
1925, and taxes not paid by that date shall have to said tax added the sum of
lot penalty and bear interest from said date at six percent. And thereafter
such fees and costs shall be added as provided for state and county taxes.

Section 4. There is levied upon all occupations taxable one-half the sum
charged by the State of Texas for pursuing such occupation.
Section 5. The fact the year is nearing its end, requires the rule of the
charter to have an ordinance read at two meetings prior to passage be sus-
pended and this ordinance passed at the meeting of its introduction and ef-
fective from the time of its approval and provided by law and the pro-
v.isions of the charter.
