Ordinance No. 'Z ~ S AN ORDINANCN whereby the question of issuing bonds of this city in the sum of $15.000.00, bearing semi- annual in t e rest at a rate not ~ore ate r than 6 pe r cent. such bonds payable serially over a period not greater than Forty years from date of issu- ance. for the purpose of extendine and improving th~ water works system of this City. may be issu- ed fixing the date and place of such election. pro- viding for notice thereof. appointi~ the officers to hold the. same. and declare emergency on account of the neBessity of improvements in such s~tem because of the paving of the hiehway of the City. Be it ordained by the City Commission of the City of Lubbock, Texas: Section 1. An election is hereby ordered to be held at the omfice of th~ City Secretary in this City on the 21st day of November, 1923. at th~ us- ual hours whereat the duly qualified property tax- paying voters of this City may determine if bonds of the city shall be issu~d as hereafter s et out. Section 2. Such bonds shall be in the sum of $15,000.00 and be.ar interest payable ~emi-annually at a rate not gre a ter than 6 per cent which mature over a period. pe r.bd. not greater than Forty years for the purpose of extending and improvi~ the Water "t lork System of thi ~City. and the denomina- ~, tions of ~1,000.00 each. u ~ certified co py of this Ordinance publishe·d in a news,. paper in this City and. posted at three public places with- in the City, as required by law, for thirty days preceeding such election. shall be ~ufficient no- tic e the reo f. Those d.esiring to vote-in favor of the issuance of such bond.s shall have written or printed. on their ball4Jts-ttFor the issuance of $15,000.00 of water wcrks bonds and. for the levy of a tax sufficient to p ay the interest as it ac- crues. and for a sinking fund to retire the bond.s at their maturity". and those opposed. to the-issu- ance· of such bonds shall have wri-tten or printed on their ballots-"Against the issuance of $15.000 Water Work Bonds. and thft levy of a tax sufficient .to pay the interest as it accrues, and. for a sink- ing fund to retire the bonds at their maturity"; and, if a majority of the voters vot[ng ~aibst such election shall vote in favor of the issuance of such bonds, same will be: issued, ana· a tax levie·d upon all property within this City subje.ot to taxation sufficient to pay the interest as it accrues, and to create a sinking fund to retire such bonds at their maturity.
