HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 234-1923 - Regulating Vehicles On Certain Streets And Avenues Of The City. - 09/27/1923/ ORDINANCE NO. 234 An Ordinance regulating parking of vehicles on certain Streets and Avenues of this City, limiting the time a vehicle may be parked thereon, forbidding again parking on such highways under certain conditions: providing that no vehicle shall be stopped without being parked next to the curb in certain sections of the City; fixing penalties for violation of any portion hereof: repealing all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances on conflict herewith; and declaring -n emerqenoy account of hindrance to traffic. Be it ordained by the City Commission, of the City of Lubbock, Texas. Section 1. No vehicle shall be parked on the West side of Avenue I between Main Street and Thirteenth Street for a longer time than thirty minutes and, if a vehicle has been parked along such territory for thirty minutes, it shall not be, within one hour thereafter, parked in said district. Section 2. No person shall stop any vehicle on any paved street or avenu~ within this City, except against the curb. Section 3. Any person convicted of violating any part of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than one, nor more than fifty dollars. Section 4. The fact that the accumulation of vehicles for long periods of time in the texritory described in Section 1, hinders orderly traffic and stopping vehicles away from the curb is dangerous, creates an emergency and public necessity that the rule of the charter requiring ordinances to be read at two meetings before passage, be, and the same is, hereby suspended, and this Ordinance be passed at the meeting of its introduction.
