An Ordinance Requiring a permit to be applied
for and issued. and fixi~ the fees therefor, for con-
struction of any side walk or curb; prescribing the
width of sidewalks on the various streets and locating
the walks and curb lines; fixi~ the duties of the City
h~ineer with reference to walks and curbs; fixi~ the ·
thickness and depth of the curb; prescribing penalties
for any violation; repealing all ordinances and parts
el ordinances in conflict herewith. and declaring an
emercency account of present uncertainty of location
of sidewalks and curbs.
, Be it ordained by the City Council of the City
of Lubbock, Texas.
Section 1. For the purpose of making uniform
the curbs and sidewalks within the City of Lubbock,
Texas, it is declared that the curb line on 100 foot
streets shall be 20 feet fram the property line,•exe•,~·

On 75 foot streets the curb line shall be 17t
feet from the property line. and the s~ewalks shall be

On 60 foot streets the curb line shall be~
feet from property line, and the sidewalks be~~
feet wide and.~ feet from propert~nes. A~ on~~
foot streets the curb line shall be ~ feet, from ~operty lines. the sidewal~fe~t in width and~
feet from property lines.
Section 2. The sidewalks and . curbs shall be built
of conore~proportioned as follows: One part Portland

Section 3. Any person desiri~ to build a curb or
sidewalk shall apply to the office of City Secretary for
a per.mit to build same;. specifying property. width of
walk and the contractor. and shall pay a fee qf ~.50 therefo~
Section 4. All curbs and sidewalks shall be laid
out under the direction of the City ~~ineer and according
to the grade established by him. and he shall receive from
the party e~plpying him for said work the sum of ~.~~'1.

Section 5. Any person who shall btiild any curbs

Section 6. All ordinances and parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith are expressly repealed.
Section 7. The fact that uncertainty exists as
to the correct location of curbs and sidewalks and the
great amount of building within this City, creates an
emergency and public necessity that the ruly of the
Charter requiring all ordinances to be read at two several
meetings before passage be suspended, and that this ord4-
nance be passed by a unanimous vote at the meeti~ of
• its i~roduction and be effect~immediately. and it is
so ordered.
