HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 174-1918 - Regulating Dogs, Licensing, And Collar. - 04/09/1918r ORDINANCE NO. 174 AN ORDINANCE to regulate the running at large of dogs, requiring the owner of each dog to apply for and procure a license tag for such dog and to keep same securely fastened onto the collar of such dog, fixing the fee for said license, and the description of such tag, and the term of such license; prohibiting the running at large of proud bitches; providing a punishment for the owner of each unlicensed dog, or proud bitch, running at large, repealing all Ordinances in conflict herewithâ–  and declaring an emergency; BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY CDOCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS: 1. That no person shall permit any dog owned by his to run at large within this City, unless said owner shall have previously ap- plied for and received of the City a license for the currect year thereof, which license shall be stamped with the year for which it is valid, and shall be securely fastened to the collar of such dog and worn by it at all times; the annual license fee for a tag shall be One ($1.00) Dollar, and no tag shall be issued except upon payment thereof, and shall not be valid after December 31st, of the year stamped thereon. 2. No owner of any proud bitch shall permit her to run at large within this City during the time she is in heat. 3. The term owner as used in this Ordinance shall be construed to mean the person at whose house, or home the said dog ordinarily stays. 4. Any person violating any Section of this Ordinance shall be punished by a fine of not less than Five ($5.00) Dollars nor more than Twenty. -five ($25.00) . 5. All Ordinances, and parts of Ordinances, in conflict herewith are hereby repealed. 6. The fact that there is no mode by which the running at large of dogs within this City may be regulated and restrained, and the danger to, and indecency before, the public creating an emergency and necessity that this Ordinance be passed on the meeting of its introduction, and it is so ordered.
