AN ORDINANCE MAKING IT UNLAWFUL FOR ANY PERSON, FIRM, OR CORPORATION TO CARRY
ON OR CAUSE TO BE CARRIED ON, OR TO ENGAGE IN, WITHIN THE FIRE LIMITS OF THE
CITY OF LUBBOCK, ANY BUSINESS, TRADE, OR PROFESSION WHEREIN IS USED GASOLINE,
BENZINE, OR OTHER OIL UR COMPOUND THEREOF, WHICH IS EXPLOSIVE OR COMBUSTIBLE
AND LIABLE TO CAUSE FIRE AND PROVIDING A PENALTY THEREFOR.
Be it Ordained by the City Council or the City or Lubbock, Texas:
1. That it shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to
carry on, or cause to be carried on, or to engage in, within the Fire Limits
of the City of Lubbock, any business, trade or profession wherein is used
gasoline, benzine, or compound thereof, which is explosive or combustible
and liable to cause fire.
2. Provided this Ordinance shall not be construed as to prevent plumb-
ers, tinners, and other builders and repairers from using gasoline, benzine,
or naptha in blow torches for the purpose of making connections, repairs,
or building work on the premises to be connected or repaired, when such work
is necessary for said premises.
3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall
be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall, upon conviction, be fined in
any sum not less than Ten or more than One Hundred Dollars, and each days
continuance shall be a separate and distinct offense.
4. This Ordinance shall take effect from and after its passage and pub-
lication as required by law.
