HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 036-1910 - Fire Limits Within The City Of Lubbock Texas, ETC. - 03/07/1910ORDINANCE NO. 36 AN ORDINANCE PRESCRIBING THE FIRE LIMITS WITHIN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, FOR THE PURPOSE OF SAFEGUARDING AGAINST THE CALAMITIES OF FIRE AND PROHIBITING THE BUILDING, PLACING, MOVING, OR REPAIR OF WODDEN BUILDINGS WITHIN SAID LIMITS AND PROHIBITING THE MOVING AND PUTTING OF ANY WOODEN BUILDING FROM WITHOUT SAID LIMITS INTO SAID LIMITS AND PROHIBITING THE MOVING OF ANY WOODEN BUILDING FROM ONE PLACE TO ANOTHER WITHIN SAID LIMITS AND PROVIDING THAT ANY BUILDING HEREAFTER BUILT WITHIN SAID LIMITS SHALL BE BUILT AND CONSTRUCTED OF FIRE PROOF MATERIAL AND PROVIDING FOR THE CONDEMTdING OF ANY BUILDING THAT MAY BE HEREAFTER BUILT OR REPAIRED IN VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE, AS A NUISANCE, AND FIXING A PENALTY FOR THE VIOLATION OF THIS ORDINANCE: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That all of that portion of the City of Lubbock within the following limits, to -wit: BEGINNING at the north-east corner of lot No. 13, in Block 107 where the same intersects the Right-of-way of the Pecos & Northern Texas Railroad; THENCE within the west line of said Right-of-way, in a South-easterly direction, to the South-west corner of Lot No. 20 in Block 139 at a point in north line of alley; THENCE West with said line to the South-east corner of No. 16 in Block 136: THENCE South with the East line of Walnut Street to the North line of South Second Street. THENCE West with said line to the east line of Ash Street; THENCE North with said line to the North-west corner of Lot No. b, Block 133, in the south line of alley; THENCE West with said line to the North -meat corner of Lot No. b in Block 132: THENCE North with the east line of Cypress Street to the North-west corner of Lot No. b, Block 102 in south line of Alley; THENCE East with said litre to the North-west corner of Lot No. b, Block 102 in south line of alley; THENCE east with said line to the North -vest corner of Lot No. b, Block 103 in the east line of Ash Street; THENCE Nord[ with said line to the North -meat corner of Lot No. 1, Block 103 in the South line of North Second Street; THENCE East with said line to where same intersects with the west line of the Right -of -sway of the Pecos and Northern Texas Railway Company; THENCE with said West line Od said Right-of-way to the place of BEGINNING •R 1 according to the Original map of the Torah of Lubbock as of Record in Vol. 5, pages 384 and 385 Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas, to be declared within the Fire Limits of said City and hereafter it shall be unlawful to build, erect, construct, place, move, or repair any wooden building within said prescribed lim- its, or to move or to put any wooden building from without limits into the said limits, or to remorse any wooden building from any place within said limits to any other place Within said limits, and hereafter any building built or repaired with- in said limits shall be built of and repaired with fire proof material. SECTION 2. Any building that may hereafter be built, constructed, or repaired within said limits, contrary to the provisions of this Ordinance, may be condemned by the City Council of this City, as a nuisance, and removed as such. SECTION 3. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be fined in apy sum not lees than $5.00 more than $100.00 for each offense. SECTION 4. Each day that any building is maintained within said fire limits, that has been built, constructed, or repaired in violation of this Ordinance shall be deemed to be a separate offense. T he above Ordinance was regualrly passed by the City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas, at a meeting thereof by the following vote; Aye 3.
