HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance - 033-1910 - Levying And Collecting Of An Occupation Tax On All Business, Callings, ETC. - 01/13/1910ORDINANCE NO. 33 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVYING AND COLLECTING OF AN OCCUPATION TAX ON ALL BUSINESS, CALLINGS, PROFESSIONS AND TRADES, WITHIN THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS, AS ARE SUBJECT TO THE PAYMENT OF AN DCCUPATION TAX UNDER THE LAWS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS AND FIXING THE RATE THEREFOR. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. An annual occupation tax is hereby levied against every person, firm or corporation following any business, calling, or profession within the City of Lubbock, Texas, where such business, calling, or profession is subject to the payment of an occupation tax under the Laws of the State of Texas, and such tax so levied shall be in an amount equal to one half the tax so levied and collected by the State of Texas, upon such business calling or profession, and said tax shall be due and payable in advance and shall be collected as is provided by law and the Ordinances of the City of Lubbock. The above and foregoing Ordinance was regularly passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas,, by the consent and vote of more than two thirds of the Aldermen-:- elected and at a regular meeting thereof on the 13., day of Jan.
