AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A BETTER SANITARY CONDITION FOR THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK AND PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR FAILURE TO OBSERVE ANY PART OF SAID ORDINANCE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
Article 1. That it shall be unlawful for any one to keep any pig or
hog, either running at large or confined in a pen or lot within the Corporate
Limits of said City, The keeping of any such animal after the passage and date
of effect of this Ordinance is hereby declared a nuisance and a menace to the
public health and any one violating this provision shall be fined not less than
five nor more than ten dollars, every day such animal is kept shall constitute
a separate offense.
Article 2. All pig pens or sheds where hogs are now kept shall be im-
mediately and thoroughtly cleaned by the owners and disinfected for such are now
a menace to the public health.
Article 3. Every restaurant, eating house, hotel, boarding house, candy
manufacturing establishment, drug store, soda fountain dispenser, grocery house,
or any other kind of firm or person who has to dispose of garbage, rotten or
decayed fruit or vegetables, syrups, peelings or refuse of any sort sha11
provide an airtight receptacle of sheet iron with a close fitting top, and put
all such refuse in it and keep some securely covered and have all the contents
of same hauled outside the City limits every other day.
Article 4. Any one violating any part of Article 3 shall be fined not
less than ten nor more than twenty-five dollars.
Article 5. Owing to the unsanitary condition of our City and the urgent
necessity of thorought cleanliness, this shall be and take effect on and
after July 19, 1909.
