RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization (LMPO), exists to coordinate the
highway, transit, and land use planning process in order to receive federal and state fiends for
highway, transit, and other transportation improvements in its service area, including the City of
Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, in November of 2018 the LMPO entered into an agreement to develop a plan to
create a consolidated bicycle and pedestrian system in a unified network for the Lubbock
metropolitan area; and
WHEREAS, through a series of stakeholder meetings, adopted visions and goals, and
recommended routes, the LMPO Transportation Advisory Committee, Transportation Policy
Committee, and Study Oversight Committee unanimously support the Walk and Bike Lubbock
Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan and recommend it to the Lubbock City Council to be referred
to and implemented as an integral component of the Plan Lubbock 2040 Comprehensive Plan;
AND NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock supports and endorses the Walk and Bike
Lubbock Pedestrian and Bicycle Master Plan, and directs staff to integrate said plan into the Plan
Lubbock 2040 Comprehensive Plan.
