RESOLUTION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK, TEXAS:
THAT the Mayor of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby authorized and directed to
execute for and on behalf of the City of Lubbock a grant application and related documents to
the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Local Law Enforcement
Block Grants Program, for funds for new technology, and that the Council hereby agrees, in
accordance with the requirements of such grant application, to a cash match of $25,931, which
is one -ninth of $233,378, and to establish or designate an advisory board to review the
application for funding and make non -binding recommendations to the Council for the use of
funds received under the Department's Block Grant Program.
Passed by the City Council this 26th day of JuIIe , 2002.

2002 LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT BLOCK GRANT

CITY MATCH: $25,931
PURPOSE AREA: TECHNOLOGY
1. Public Safety Hardware/Software System upgrade
• Computer Aided Dispatch module upgrade from mainframe
computer system to a PC based system.
• Records Management System upgrade from text based reporting
system to PC based computer system.
Purchase Public Safety software.
2. Continue to upgrade Police Mobile Data System.
Replace mobile data terminals with laptops.
• Interface system to Records Management System to allow officers
to send full reports to Records System electronically.
