WHEREAS, the City Council and citizens of the City of Lubbock, Texas,
were grieved and saddened to learn of the death of former City Attorney
Fred 0. Senter in Austin, Texas, on Monday, July 23, 1984; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Senter earned the admiration and respect of all those
with whom he came into contact during 24 years of public service with the
City Attorney's Office of the City of Lubbock; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Senter was instrumental in the accomplishment of many
goals and projects on behalf of the City of Lubbock during his tenure as
City Attorney from 1960 to 1978, including the Canadian River Water
Project, the Tornado Recovery, the Memorial Civic Center, and the Canyon
Lakes Project; and
WHEREAS, Mr.enter's service for the City of Lubbock began in 1954,
when the City of. ubbock was a small city of less than 100,000 population,
and stretched thrbugh its critical period of growth into one of the major
metropolitan areas of the State of Texas with more than 170,000 population;
and
WHEREAS, the City Council and the citizens of the City of Lubbock
mourn his loss and extend to his wife and family our sincere sympathy in
this time of bereavement; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the Mayor and City Council hereby take cognizance of Fred Orlando
Senter's long and faithful service to the citizens of this City, and hereby
express to his sorrowing family our sincere appreciation of his dedicated
performance of the duties of his offices and our deep realization of the
loss we have sustained; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT this Resolution be spread upon the minutes
of this Council and that a copy hereof, properly embossed and inscribed, be
transmitted with our heartfelt sympathy to his wife and family.
