HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 1025 - Endorse Highway Improvement Priority Listing - COC, HSRC - 6 Listings - 02_11_1982RESOLUTION 1025 - 2/11/82 b �@ SMH:da RESOLUTION A RESOLUTION ENDORSING THE HIGHWAY IMPROVEMENT PRIORITY LISTING AS ESTABLISHED BY THE HIGHWAYS, STREETS, AND ROAD COMMITTEE OF THE LUBBOCK CHAMBER OF COMMERCE. WHEREAS, the Highways, Streets, and Road Committee of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce established a priority listing of area highway improvements on February 2, 1982; and WHEREAS, this recommended list of highway improvements will be submitted to the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors on February 11, 1982; and WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Lubbock after receiving the recommendations desires to endorse this highway improvement priority listing; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the following priority listing of area highway improvements proposed by the Highways, Streets, and Road Committee of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerc be and is hereby endorsed by the City Council for the City of Lubbock: 1. Continuation for the funding of the I-27 extension through the City of Lubbock. 2. To recommend the upgrading and designation of existing Farm to Market roads for an outer loop, with this being included in the 20 year highway plan. 3. Also to be included in the 20 year highway plan, a request for a continued study and development of an East-West thoroughfare, to come off U.S. 62 at approximately East 19th Street at Quirt Avenue, then proceeding Southwesterly towards the railroad crossing at E. 34th Street and Spur 331, and to continue West in a corridor some- where between 34th Street and 50th Street to the Brownfield Highway and Loop 289 interchange. 4. Continue to seek upgrading, of a divided four lane highway on State Highway 114 from Dallas to the New Mexico State Line. 5. To resume a continued effort for a divided four lane highway from Lubbock to the Gulf Coast. 6. The State Highway Commission is requested to continue to pursue the programming, scheduling, and implementation of other existing pro- posed City and area Highway projects especially the 3rd Street and 4th Street One -Way pair and the grade separation at 19th Street and Brownfield Road.
