QWHEREAS, the City Council has heretofore agreed to close portions of
certain streets and alleys to allow the United States Postal Service to
build.a new central post office to replace their present facility; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has now finally closed said portions of certain
streets and alleys, a portion of which has accrued to the City of Lubbock as
abutting property owner; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to sell such property to the United
States Postal Service; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the Mayor of the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby authorized and
directed to execute;for and on behalf of the City of Lubbock a deed conveying
the east half of Avenue K, from 6th Street to 4th Street, to the United States
Postal Service for the amount of Four Thousand Six Hundred and Sixty Dollars
($4,660.00).

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
THAT the CITY OF LUBBOCK, a municipal corporation, for
and in consideration of the sum of FOUR THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED
SIXTY AND N01100 DOLLARS ($4,660.00), cash in hand paid by
the Grantee hereinafter named, the receipt and sufficiency
whereof is hereby acknowledged, has granted, sold and con
veyed, and by these presents does grant, sell and convey
unto the UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE the following de-
scribed real estate, together with all improvements thereon,
situated in Lubbock County, Texas, being more particularly
described as follows:
The East one-half of Avenue K from Sixth Street
to Fourth Street, Original Town of Lubbock,
Lubbock County, Texas, and being more particularly
described as follows:
Beginning at a point in the Southwest corner of
Block 22, Original Town of Lubbock, for the South-
east and beginning corner of this tract;
Thence North along the East line of Avenue K, 621
feet to found square tube in the South line of
Fourth Street, for the Northeast corner of this
tract;
Thence West 37.5 feet to a point in the centerline
of Avenue K for the Northwest corner of this tract;
Thence South along the centerline of Avenue K, 621
feet to a point in the North line of Sixth Street,
for the Southwest corner of this tract;
Thence East 37.5 feet to the place of beginning.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above described premises, to-
gether with all and singular the rights, appurtenances, and
hereditaments thereunto in anywise belonging to the said
Grantee, the United States Postal Service, its successors or
assigns, forever, together with all right, title or interest,
if any, of the Grantor in and to any streams, alleys, roads,
streets, ways, strips, gores or railroad rights -of -way
abutting or adjoining said land.
This transaction is subject to the easements for public
utilities as described in Attachment A hereto.
AND the CITY OF LUBBOCK does hereby bind itself, its
successors and assigns, to warrant and forever defend all
and singular the said premises unto the said Grantee herein,
its successors and assigns, against every person whomsoever
lawfully claiming or llto claim the same or any part thereof.
