RESOLUTION AM - 2/14/80
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council for the City of Lubbock recognizes the vital
importance of an accurate 1980 census, which effects our community's political
representation in the U.S. Congress and in the State Legislature and also
determines the percentage of Federal and State funds returned to the City of
Lubbock each year, and
WHEREAS, the City Council further
public education campaign to inform all
cooperating with the census; WHEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED:
recognizes the need for an intensive
residents about the importance of
THAT the Mayor for the City of Lubbock BE and is hereby authorized to
create a "Complete Count Committee" and to charge them with the responsibility
of supporting and supplimenting the mass communication effort of the Census
Bureau by attempting to reach all segments of our total population and by
especially emphasizing the confidentiality of the census information;
THAT the Complete Count Committee shall be composed of nine members
including a chairman who shall be appointed by the Mayor and Council;
THAT the Complete Count Committee members shall be chosen from the entire
community and shall include representatives from all local major ethnic and
cultural interests;
THAT the Complete Count Committee shall be dissolved June 30, 1980 to
insure ample time after Census Day for completion of its assigned duties.
