HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2010-R0275 - Countywide Polling Support For Lubbock County - 06/10/2010Resolution No. 2010-RO275 June 10, 2010 Item No. 5.25 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, Pursuant to HB -719, 8151 Regular Session, Texas counties may submit an application to the Texas Secretary of State to participate in a program for the use of countywide polling places for the general election for state and county officers. WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock has been informed that the County Commissioners of Lubbock County desire to participate in said program and desire to have a statement of support from the City of Lubbock for such participation; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock finds it to be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to support Lubbock County in such application to participate in the countywide polling place program of the Secretary of State; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock, Texas, hereby indicates its support of Lubbock County's application to participate in the Secretary of State's program to establish countywide polling places in lieu of individual voting precinct polling places for the general election of state and county officers as provided for by HB -719, 8151 Regular Session. SECTION 2. THAT the City Secretary shall forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the County Commissioners of Lubbock County through the Lubbock County Election Administrator.
