Said FY 2009 Section 5309 Discretionary Earmark Grant Application is attached hereto and incorporated in this Resolution as if fully set forth herein and shall be included in the minutes of the Council. The vehicle that is being replaced is a 1996 RTS. The new vehicle will be a 35', low floor, hybrid electric bus. The remaining funds from this project will be combined with other monies to be used to purchase additional vehicles in the future. The funding for this project comes from an FY2009 Section 5309 earmark. Citibus will use Transportation Development Credits as the local match for this project. These TDCs have been previously awarded in Minute Orders 108381 and 108798; these minute orders are attached. CONSENT AGENDA ITEM #/SUBJECT: # Consider approval of a FY 2009 Section 5309 Discretionary Earmark Grant application. (Citibus). BACKGROUND DISCUSSION: Citibus has filed a grant application in the amount of $712,500 with the Federal Transit Administration for a FY 2009 Section 5309 Discretionary Earmark. The earmark will be used to purchase ne lacement vehicle for Citibus' fixed route fleet. The new vehicle wi be a 35' low floor, hybrid electric bus. The cost of the ve is a is $556 81. The remaining funds from this project will be combined with other monies to be used to purchase additional vehicles in the future. It may be two to three months before Citibus has an approved contract for the FY 2009 Section 5309 Discretionary Earmark. Citibus has pre -award authority on the FY 2009 Section 5309 Discretionary Earmark. Citibus anticipates being awarded an additional $750,000 in an FY 2010 Section 5309 Discretionary Earmark. Citibus will bring the FY 2010 application to City Council as soon as it is placed in the Federal Register. Funds from the FY 2010 Section 5309 earmark will also be used to purchase replacement buses. FISCAL IMPACT: Citibus will use Transportation Development Credits as the local match for this project. Acceptance of this grant application will result in no additional cost to the City of Lubbock. SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATION: Citibus recommends the approval of a FY 2009 Section 5309 Discretionary Earmark Grant application.
