RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Roy Furr has contributed greatly to the community of Lubbock and
his loss has been felt by the community as a whole; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock desires to honor and
celebrate the life of Roy Furr; and
WHEREAS, the City Council desires to establish a committee of citizens to
explore the best means of so honoring Roy Furr;
WHEREAS, the Committee shall make recommendations on how to accomplish
this task; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT a Roy Furr Honor Committee is hereby created by the City Council of the
City of Lubbock, which shall perform its duties in accordance with the following criteria:
1. The primary objective of the Committee shall be to explore the best options for
honor and celebrating the life of Roy Furr. The Committee shall develop a list of
recommended option and shall submit said list to the City Council for review and
implementation.
2. The Committee will consist of five (5) members that shall be citizens of the
City of Lubbock and shall be appointed by the City Council. The City Council shall
designate the Chairperson and Vice -chairperson from the appointed members of the
Committee. The City Manager shall appoint a staff liaison to the Committee. The
Committee may establish subcommittees when it deems it is appropriate for
specialization or concentration on specific options.
3. Regular meeting will be held at times and locations established by a majority
of the Committee members. A simple majority shall constitute a quorum, and a majority
vote of the quorum shall be required for any action to be taken by the Committee.
4. The City Policy Review Committee members shall serve until such time they
deliver the Committee's final report to the City Council. At such time, the Committee
shall terminate and disband.
6. Reports shall be presented by the Chairperson of the Committee to the City
Council as requested by the City Council.
