HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2004-R0185 - Authorization To Install Thoroughfare Lighting System Along Olive Ave. - 04_06_2004Resolution No. 2004-RO185 April 22, 2004 Item No. 15 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock currently utilizes five-100 watt, high-pressure sodium lights to illuminate Olive Avenue from East 50`h Street to East 60th Street in the Yellowhouse Canyon area; WHEREAS, the City Council finds that in order to promote the health, safety and public welfare of the City of Lubbock additional thoroughfare lighting should be added along this portion of Olive Avenue to illuminate this two-lane asphalt road; WHEREAS, in order to install a thoroughfare lighting system along Olive Avenue from East 50`h Street to East 601h Street it will be necessary to replace three of the 100- watt fixtures with 400-watt fixtures, add nine additional 400 watt fixtures, two transformers, an oil switch and a new 46 duplex service wire; WHEREAS, it is estimated that the total expenditure for adding this thoroughfare lighting system will be approximately ten thousand dollars ($10,000.00); NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the Mayor is hereby authorized to direct the City Manager to institute the necessary and proper procedures to authorize the staff of the City of Lubbock to install a thoroughfare lighting system along Olive Avenue from East 50th Street to East 60th Street, including replacing three of the 100-watt fixtures with 400-watt fixtures, adding nine additional 400 watt fixtures, two transformers, an oil switch and a new #6 duplex service wire.
