RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, Ms. DeLinda Harrell appeared before the City Council on May 8,
2003, and expressed concern that pet waste poses health issues and a distraction for
visitors to City parks; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Harrell has offered to coordinate a fund raising campaign to
purchase biodegradable plastic gloves and dispensers for all City parks; and
WHEREAS, the City council deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens of
the City of Lubbock to support Ms. Harrell in her fund raising efforts and to confirm the
City's interest in such a program; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby encourages and
supports the efforts of Ms. DeLinda Harrell to raise funds to support the establishment
and maintenance of pet waste glove dispensing stations for all City parks in order to
improve the health and appearance of the City's parks. All Lubbock citizens are
encouraged to support the project in every way possible. Such funds as may be raised for
such purpose will be earmarked specifically for such purpose by the City.
