HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2005-R0240 - Support Negotiations With TXDOT - Expidite Masha Sharp Freeway, TIP Improvements - 06_09_2005Resolution No. 2005-1 0240 June 9, 2005 Item Z RESOLUTION BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: A resolution authorizing and directing the members of the City Council and City staff who are members of the Lubbock Metropolitan Planning Organization Transportation Policy Committee to support negotiations with the Texas Department of Transportation through the Metropolitan Planning Organization, for the purpose of entering into an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation to expedite the construction of the five phases of the Marsha Sharp Freeway and other projects contained in the Transportation Improvement Plan, expressing the willingness of the City Council to participate in the costs and financing of said construction through the issuance of bonds to the extent of the funding that the Texas Department of Transportation commits to provide to the City on an annual basis to repay said bonds and further expressing the intent of the City Council that the Marsha Sharp Freeway shall not be operated as a toll road and that no funds provided by the City of Lubbock shall be used be used for the construction or operation of the Marsha Sharp Freeway as a toll road nor shall the operation of the Marsha Sharp Freeway as a toll road be considered as an option for funding such expedited construction.
