RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock deems it to be in the best
of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to establish a policy regarding the
hment of criteria for the naming of fire stations; NOW THEREFORE:
IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT, the policy establishing the criteria for the naming of fire stations in the
ty of Lubbock attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and incorporated herein by reference is
reby adopted.

Criteria for the Naming of Fire Stations
The original fire station number designation will not be changed (Sta. #l, #2,
etc.).
2. A secondary, honorary fire station name designation may be allowed.
3. The secondary fire station name designation must be limited to the name of a
deceased Lubbock fire fighter who was killed in the line of duty (as determined
by the Chief of the Lubbock Fire Department).
4. The secondary fire station name designation request must come from a family
member (requestor) of the deceased fire fighter.
5. The Chief of the Lubbock Fire Department, or his/her designee, will determine
which existing fire station will receive the secondary name designation.
6. The Chief of the Lubbock Fire Department will place the secondary fire station
name designation on a marker near the front door of the selected Lubbock fire
station.
7. The Lubbock Fire Department will pay all costs for making and installing the
marker.
$, If, and only when, all of the fire stations in Lubbock receive a secondary name
designation, then an additional marker may be added to stations (for example,
Station #10 could have two honorary names on the station).
