RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the City of Shallowater, Texas, has requested that the City of
Lubbock approve an annexation of an area of some 21.04 acres located in the City of
Lubbock's extraterritorial jurisdiction into the City of Shallowater; and
WHEREAS, Section 42.023 of the Local Government Code requires written
consent to annexation by a municipality whose extraterritorial jurisdiction will be reduced
by an annexation conducted by another municipality; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock does not object to said proposed annexation by
the City of Shallowater; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the governing body of the City of Lubbock hereby gives its written consent
to the proposed annexation of 21.04 acres at the request of the landowner by the City of
Shallowater as indicated on the letter, map and metes and bounds description attached
hereto as Exhibit A and made a part hereof for all purposes.

Metes and Bounds Description
Field Notes
21.04 acres
for
City of Shaliowater, Texas
All of that certain tract or parcel of land situated in Section 35, Block D-5, East
Line and Red River Railroad Survey, A-318, Lubbock County, Texas and being
all Lot "A" Valley Estates Subdivision as per plat recorded in Volume 2289, Page
289, Real Property Records of Lubbock County, Texas; a portion of Lubbock
County Road No. 1540 and a portion of U. S. Highway No. 84 right-of-way and
being more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a'/2 inch iron rod found at the Southeast comer of this tract, the
Southeast comer of said Tract "A" and the Southwest comer of a called 2.0 acre
tract as described in deed to Floyd and Alma Can-, recorded in Volume 1842,
Page 381, Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas. Said beginning point being
on the North line of a 20.00 foot wide alley as depicted on the said Valley Estates
Plat.
Thence N 66°12'47"W along the South line of this tract, the South line of said
Tract "A" and the said North line of alley, at 832.87 feet pass a'/2 inch iron rod
found at the Southwest comer of said Tract "A", continuing along said South line
in all 910.55 feet to the Southwest. comer of this tract in an existing fence line on
the West right-of-way of Lubbock County Road No. 1540, same being the
occupied East line of the Vicki Huffman called 8.95 acre as described in deed
recorded in Volume 8469, Page 242, Official Public Records of Lubbock County,
Texas.
Thence N 1 °23'30" E along the West right-of-way line of said Lubbock County
Road No. 1540 and said occupied East line of the called 8.95 acres, 740.07 feet
to the occupied Northeast comer of the said called 8.95 acres on the South right-
of-way line of U.S. Highway No. 84.
Thence N 1 °33'41" E, continuing along the West line of this tract and on and
across said U. S. Highway No. 84 right-of-way, 402.20 feet to comer in the North
right-of-way line of said U. S. Highway No. 84 right-of-way and in the South line
of a called 17.05 acre tract as described in deed to John G. Wilkerson, recorded
in Volume 4740, Page 295, Official Public Records of Lubbock County, Texas.
Thence S 55051'26" E along said North right-of-way line and the South line of the
said called 17.05 acres, 44.76 feet to the Southeast comer of the said called
17.05 acres.
Thence 1 °33'41" E along the East line of the said called 17.05 acres and the East
line of the First State Bank's called 4.632 acres, at 225.72 feet pass a'/z inch iron
rod found at the Northeast comer of the said called 4.632 acres, continuing for a
total distance of 366.60 feet to the Northwest comer of this tract on the South line
of the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad Company' right-of-way.
Thence S 42°31'36" E 50.0 feet from and parallel to the centerline of the said
Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad Company' right-of-way, 1,164.21 feet
to the Northeast comer of this tract.
Thence S 1 °46'30" W along the East line of this tract and on and across the said
U. S. Highway No. 84 right-of-way, at 369.20 pass a 5/8 inch iron rod found in the
South line of said right-of-way and at the Northwest comer of the said Floyd and
Alma Carr's 2.00 acres, continuing with the East line of this tract and the West
line of the said called 2.00 acre for a total distance of 834.62 feet to the place of
beginning and containing 21.04 acres of land.
