BACKGROUND / DISCUSSION: The Milk and Dairy contract was originally approved by Council with Resolution # 2005-RO446 on September 21, 2005. Contract Change Notice No. 01 to DSHS Document No. 7560005906A2006 increases the rate per test for Aflatoxin to $24.00 from the current $12.50 rate and amends the total contract not to exceed $42,000.00 from the current $14,000.00 cap. The Milk and Dairy Contract period remains the same from 09/01/05 to 08/31/06. The Lubbock Health Department Regional Laboratory is reimbursed for laboratory analysis of milk and dairy samples at a specified rate, depending on what kind of analysis is performed. The Lab performs over 3,000 tests on the more than 700 samples submitted each year. The milk and dairy testing program maintains technologist proficiency in laboratory methods that would be used to respond to food -borne disease outbreaks. These activities are directly related to protection of the public. FISCAL IMPACT: Projected general fund revenue may increase by $28,000.00 depending upon sample volumes submitted for testing. SUMMARY/RECOMMENDATION: Tommy Camden, Health Director and Health Department staff recommends approval of the contract. g: Agenda Comments — DSHS Milk and Dairy Change July 2006
