HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 2006-R0142 - Front Door, Visitor Information Center & Gateway Project - 03_23_2006Resolution No. 2006-RO142 March 23, 2006 Item No. 5.16 CERTIFICATION OF FUNDING SUPPORT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock, Texas, desires to submit an application for a Lubbock's Front Door, Visitor Information Center & Gateway Project to be submitted to the 2005-2006 Texas Department of Transportation Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program; and WHEREAS, the Project is designed to provide a 3,600 square foot construction addition to the east side of the Buddy Holly Center for the purpose of opening a Visitor Information Center and creating a gateway into downtown Lubbock with street -side landscaping along 19th Street; and WHEREAS, the City desires to establish its commitment to pledge the 20% match in accordance with the Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program Guide; and WHEREAS, the City commits the project's development, implementation, construction, maintenance and financing; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute all documents necessary for the submission of the Lubbock's Front Door, Visitor Information Center & Gateway Project. The following is a brief project description including cost. Project Description: New construction addition to the existing Buddy Holly Center. This project will include the addition of 3,600 sq. ft. to the east side of the Buddy Holly Center for the purpose of opening a Visitor Information Center and creating a gateway into downtown Lubbock. Additional parking and landscaping are also planned.
