The following is a brief project description including cost: Project Description: Streetscape beautification of a one (1) mile segment of Regis Street (F.M. 2641) extending east from Interstate Highway 27 to Martin Luther King Boulevard. This project is the second phase of a two phase landscape and open space development project designed to enhance the visual corridor or primary approach to and from the airport and the city. The Regis Street phase calls for the removal of scattered commercial land uses mixed with lower income residential land uses of varying densities, outside storage of junk and debris and miscellaneous non -conforming uses. The plan calls for these uses to be replaced with open space and dense plantings of large trees and natural grasses. An irrigation system is also included and additional interest will be achieved with smaller, colorful flowering trees at certain locations along the route. The street itself will be "dressed" up with the addition of concrete curb and gutter. The project will present an open "park -like" environment. The planned trees, along with open space, will present a beautiful setting and spectacular entrance along the corridor to the airport that will give a positive first impression of our community to new visitors.
