RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock, Texas, a Home Rule Municipality locat-
ed in Lubbock County, Texas, has determined and does hereby determine the
public needs, safety, and welfare demands and creates a publicnecessity for
the widening, constructing, reconstructing and expansion and improvement of
Quirt Avenue in said City in order to provide better access to the Municipal
Airport of said City creating a need for additional right-of-way by said City
to accomplish such purposes, and this City Council of said City finds it to the
best public interest and for public purposes and municipal purposes to pro-
ceed with the acquisition of lands as needed for such purposes as dforesaid;
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT the fee simple title to the following described real
estate located in Lubbock County, Texas, be acquired for public purposes
and municipal purposes as set forth in the preamble hereof, to -wit:
A parcel of land containing 0. 211 acre of land, more or
less, out of a 1. 11 acre tract of land in the Southwest 4
of Section 8, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas. Said 1. 11
acre tract was conveyed to Shirley Wooten by Ken L. Austin
by Deed dated March 15, 1971 and recorded in Volume 1261,
page 534, Deed Records of Lubbock County, Texas. Said
0. 211 acre is more particularly described by metes and
bounds as follows:
BEGINNING at a point on the West boundary line of Section
8, Block A, said point is the Northwest corner of said 1. 11
acre tract and bears South 88° 41 29" East, a distance of
5, 280. 00 feet, thence South 1° 541 42" West, a distance of
4, 412. 60 feet from the Southwest corner of Section 10, Block
A; said point also being the common boundary line and South-
west corner of a tract of land owned by Genita Harris.
THENCE South 88 ° 51 8" East along the North property line
of said 1. 11 acre tract, a distance of 63.62 feet to a point;
THENCE South 0' 111 12" West, a distance of 140. 06 feet
to a point in the South property line of said 1. 11 acre tract
said South property line being the common boundary line
with Rosa Ortega Griffis.
THENCE North 88 ° 5t 18" West along the South property
line of said 1. 11 acre tract, a distance of 67. 84 feet to a
point on the West boundary line of Section 8, Block A;

THENCE North 10 54' 42" East along the West boundary
line of Section 8, Block A, a distance of 140.00 feet to
the PLACE OF BEGINNING, containing 0. 211 acre of which
approximately 0.090 acre is in an existing road.
SECTION 2. THAT the owners of said land including SHIRLEY WOOTEN,
BE offered through the Right -of -Way Department of the City of Lubbock the
amount of $1, 113. 00, which is the amount appraised as the value and total
damages for the fee simple title and acquisition of said real estate herein -
above described for the purposes herein stated, for the use and benefit of the
City of Lubbock, located in Lubbock County, Texas, and unless accepted
forthwith the City Attorney of said City of Lubbock is hereby authorized and
instructed to institute condemnation (eminent domain) proceedings to acquire
the fee simple title to said land as hereinabove described for public purposes
and municipal purposes.
