RESOLUTION
WHEREAS,legislation has been proposed in the Texas Legislature which
would provide a means for redeveloping deteriorated commercial areas in
municipalities in the State of Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock is concerned about certain areas within the
City which need redeveloping; NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the City Council does hereby support the concept of providing for
means of redeveloping deteriorated commercial areas by Tax Increment Financing
which in effect establishes a redevelopment district and creates a fund made
up of taxes from such district to finance redevelopment or meet bond retiremem
costs; and
THAT the City Council does hereby support legislation authorizing Tax
Increment Financing and urges the legislative delegation from the Lubbock area
to vote for such legislation; and
THAT the City Council does further urge that in the eventstatewide re-
development is not enacted, then, in the alternative, legislation be introduce)
authorizing Tax Increment Financing for redevelopment in the City of Lubbock.
