HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 011377B - Objection To The Establishing Of Telephone Rates On A Broad Basis - 01_13_1977KJ : b sb RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Legislature of the State of Texas has established the Public Utilities Commission; and WHEREAS, such Commission has held hearings and established telephone rates on a statewide basis; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the City Council does hereby voice its objection to the establishing of telephone rates on such a broad basis; and THAT the legislative delegation from the Lubbock area is hereby requested to introduce and vote for legislation that will repeal the Texas Public Utilit Regulatory Act of 1975 or if this is unsuccessful, introduce legislation that will amend such act to require telephone rates to be established by geographi- cal service areas of the State of Texas, taking into consideration the condi- tions that may justify different rates for different areas and still be just, fair and reasonable for the particular areas.
