BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the MAYOR of the CITY OF LUBBOCK, BE and is hereby
authorized and directed to execute for and on behalf of the CITY OF LUBBOC
an AMENDMENT to an AGREEMENT FOR TAX ASSESSMENT AND COLL-
ECTION between the CITY OF LUBBOCK and the LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT
SCHOOL DISTRICT, attached herewith which shall be spread upon the
Minutes of the COUNCIL and as spread upon the Minutes of this COUNCIL
shall constitute and be a part of this Resolution as if fully copied herein
in detail.

ORDINANCE NO. 7123
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 30 OF THE CODE OF ORDI-
NANCES, CITY OF LUBBOCK BY AMENDING SECTION 30-14 THEREOF;
PROVIDING FOR A TAX BOARD OF EQUALIZATION; PROVIDING A SAVIN(
CLAUSE; PROVIDING FOR PUBLICATION AND DECLARING AN EMER-
GENCY.
WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that in order to proceed
with the review and equalization of taxable property within the City of Lubbc
it is necessary to increase the number of members on the Tax Board of
Equalization to 18 members, and
WHEREAS; the necessity of reviewing and assessing the taxable pro-
perty and the preparation of the tax rolls for the City of Lubbock creates an
emergency which requires the immediate passage of this measure;
NOW THEREFORE:
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
SECTION 1. THAT Chapter 30 of the Code of Ordinances, City of
Lubbock, Texas, BE and is hereby amended by amending first paragraph of
the Section 30-14 thereto to read as follows:
"Section 30-14. Appointment, terms and qualifications of members.
The Tax Board of Equalization shall be composed of 18 members.
Each member shall be a qualified voter, a resident and property
owner of the City of Lubbock. All of the members of the board
shall be appointed by the City Council of the City of Lubbock and
the Board of Trustees of the Lubbock Independent School District. "
SECTION 2. THAT should any Section, paragraph, sentence, clause,
phrase or word of this Ordinance be declared unconstitutional or invalid for
any reason the remainder of this Ordinance shall not be affected thereby.
SECTION 3.. THAT the City Secretary is hereby authorized to cause
publication of the descriptive caption of this Ordinance as an alternative
method provided by law.
SECTION 4. THAT the fact that the Public necessity requires that
this Ordinance be passed as an emergency measure for reasons set forth in
the preamble hereof, the rule requiring that no -Ordinance shall be finally
passed on the day of its introduction be suspended, and this Ordinance is
declared to be an emergency measure to take effect from and after its
passage.

AMENDMENT TO AGREEMENT FOR
TAX ASSESSMENT AND COLLECTION
THE STATE OF TEXAS
COUNTY OF LUBBOCK
WHEREAS, the LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT and the
CITY OF LUBBOCK, entered into an agreement dated June 14, 1951, amended
May 21, 1963, whereby the School District contracted with the City of Lubbock
for the City Tax Assessor -Collector to assess and collect taxes for the District;
and,
WHEREAS, the School District and the City desire to amend such contract;
WITNESSETH:
THAT Paragraph Two (2) of the Agreement entered into between the Lubbock
Independent School District and the City of Lubbock dated June 14, 1951, amended
May 21, 1963, is hereby amended by adding thereto a paragraph which shall read
as follows:
The City and the District agree that both the City and the
District shall each appoint all of the members of a Tax
Board of Equalization which shall have the authorityTested
in it by law to equalize the tax assessments made against
all taxable property within the City of Lubbock and the Lub-
bock Independent School District. Such Tax Board of Equali-
zation shall consist of twelve members with the provision that
all of such Board members shall be appointed by the City
Council of the City of Lubbock and the Board of Trustees of
the Lubbock Independent School District.
