HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 010975M - Real Estate Acquisition - FM 2641 - Airport - 01_09_1975JWF:dw RESOLUTION 775 WHEREAS, the City of Lubbock has determined that the public needs, necessity, and welfare demand that Is Lubbock Regional Airport be further expanded, extended, and improved and that a necessary part of such project is the improvement of Farm to Market Public Road and/or Highway No. 2641 in order to provide better public access for the traveling public to such airport, which is a public purpose and a lawful municipal purpose, and such project is to be accomplished by the City of Lubbock acquiring lands needed for such public purposes and the Texas Highway Department constructing or causing to be constructed said F. M. 2641 improvements as aforesaid; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock hereby determines that it would and will be to the best public interest and for public and municipal purposes to proceed with the acquisition of lands as needed for such purposes as aforesaid; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the fee simple title to the following described real estate located in Lubbock County, Texas, be acquired for municipal purposes and public use and purposes as set forth in the preamble hereof, to -wit: 0. 260 acre of land more particularly described by metes and bounds as follows: BEGINNING at a point in the east right of way line of Interstate Highway 27, said point being North 88' 021 O1" West a distance of 4, 909. 93 feet and South 0 ° 24' 43" East a distance of 2, 634. 55 feet from the North- east corner of Section 10, Block A, Lubbock County, Texas; THENCE South 88' 01' 36" East a distance of 266. 83 feet along the z section line to a point; THENCE South a distance of 32.07 feet to a point; THENCE North 89° 581 15" West a distance of 215. 26 feet along a line 70. 00 feet from and parallel to the center- line of F. M. 2641 to a point; THENCE South 45' 01' 45" West a distance of 79. 55 feet to a point; THENCE North 02 ° 511 45" East a distance of 97.49 feet along the East right of way line of Interstate Highway 27 to the POINT OF BEGINNING. SECTION 2. THAT the owners of said land, including Earl Lockhart, Jr., and Letha Simpson, be offered, through the Right -of -Way Department of the City of Lubbock the amount of $315.00, which is the amount appraised as the value and total damages for the fee simple title and acquisition of said real estate hereinabove described for the purposes herein stated, for the use and benefit of the City of Lubbock, and unless accepted, the City Attorney is hereby authorized and instructed to institute Condemnation Proceedings to acquire the fee simple title to said real estate as hereinabove described for the purposes aforesaid.
