HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 111474C - COL And LISD Withdraw From Community Action Board - 11_14_1974KJ-dw JOINT RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the City and County of Lubbock, by Joint Resolution, created the Community Action Board; and WHEREAS, the City, County and School District recognize that the programs currently sponsored by the Community Action Board have been beneficial to the citizens of the City and County; and WHEREAS, the County has withdrawn from active participation on the Community Action Board; and WHEREAS, there has been uncertainty of adequate funding for the Community Action Agency by the Federal government and there has been low attendance at Board meetings, and these factors in turn have contribu- ted to inefficiencies and ineffectiveness in the operations of the agency; and WHEREAS, the City and School District would like to insure to the best of their abilities that these worthwhile programs continue for the benefit' of the citizens of our con=nity; NOW THEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK AND THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE LUBBOCK INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT: THAT the City of Lubbock and the Lubbock Independent School District hereby withdraw their active participation from the Community Action B oard; and THAT the Lubbock Independent School District hereby expresses a desire to be responsible for the sponsorship and administration of the Neighborhood Youth Corps Program and the In -School Head Start Program which it presently operates; and THAT the Lubbock Independent School District hereby expresses its willingness to serve as the Fiscal Agent for the Day -Care Center Program provided the Head Start Policy Board assumes sponsorsUp, administration, and operation of the Day -Care Program; and THAT the City of Lubbock provide through existing City departments, facilities and programs, programs for Outreach, Planning, Equal Opportunity, Planned Parenthood (if available), and any other new programs without being limited, but such as Senior Citizena= Activities, Health and Medical Care and Youth Activities; and , l) KJ:dw THAT appropriate State and Federal agencies be notified of this resolution showing the intention of the parties to insure the continuance of these worthwhile programs for the benefit of the community.
