HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 5839 - Authorized - City Manager - Approve Routine Contracts, Goods & Services - 04_23_1998RESOLUTION NO.5839 Item #54 April 23, 1998 RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Local Government Code of the State of Texas provides at Sec. 252.048(c) that the governing body of municipalities may grant general authority to approve change orders to an administrative official within the amounts specified; and WHEREAS, the Charter of the City of Lubbock provides at Ch. 1, Art. X, Sec. 4(f) that the City Manager may perform such duties as are assigned to him by the City Council; and WHEREAS, the City Council has deemed it to be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to expedite the performance of City business by granting to the City Manager authority to approve change orders as specified by the Local Government Code which currently provides for administrative approval of change orders up to $25,000; and WHEREAS, Resolutions 4151, 4256 and 4583 authorized the City Manager to approve routine contracts for goods and services involving an expenditure or receipt of $15,000 or less on standard City contract forms or in a form aproved by the City Attorney; and WHEREAS, the City Council deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Lubbock to extend this general authority to $25,000; NOW TBEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: SECTION 1. THAT the City Manager of the City of Lubbock is hereby authorized and directed to approve routine contract change orders involving an increase or decrease of $25,000 or less, or such other amount as may be specified hereafter by applicable provisions of state law. SECTION 2. THAT the City Manager of the City of Lubbock or his designee is hereby authorized and directed to approve routine contracts for goods and services involving expenditures or the receipt of $25,000 or less that are executed on standard City contract forms or in a form approved by the City Attorney. SECTION 3. THAT any prior resolutions or parts of resolutions in this Resolution are hereby repealed to the extent of any conflict. Passed by the City Council this 23rd day of Oril // , 1998.
