HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution - 102573G - Council's Endorsement Of Senate Joint Resolution 29 - 10_25_1973KJ:pm 73 r RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Constitution of the State of Texas, imposes a maximum ad valorem tax rate which may be established by cities -in Texas; and WHEREAS, such tax rate ceiling includes costs of governmental operations and payment of bond principal and interest; and WHEREAS, Senate Joint Resolution No. 29 has been passed by the Texas Legislature and is to be submitted to the voters of Texas on November 6, 1973 as an amendment to the Constitution which would permit cities in Texas to levy and collect ad valorem taxes in addition to all other taxes authorized, at such rate as will be sufficient to pay when due the principal and interest on general obligation bonds issued after the effective date of such amendment: NOW 3'HEREFORE: BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY tCOUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK: THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock does hereby endorse Senate Joint Resolution No. 29 as an amendment to the Texas Constitution and does urge all voters to support and vote for such amendment.
