WHEREAS, the City .Commission of the City of Lubbock, Texas did,,
by resolution dated Actob -r 20"' 1955, as amended by resolution dated
April 21, 1956, determine that certain runway clear zones were essential
for the :continued operation of the Lubbock Municipal Airport, were required
for the Public Convenience and Necessity and were required for the preserva-
tion of the public safety of the users and the neighbors of the Lubbock Munici-
pal Airport, and
WHEREAS, the right of way agent of the City of Lubbock, Texas has
secured appraisals of the land tracts involved, and
WHEREAS, the Airport Board of the City of Lubbock, has made
recommendation that the appraisal of the Lubbock Real Estate Board is a
fair and reasonable appraisal of the value of such property, and
WHEREAS, the. City Commission of the City of Lubbock has authorized
formal offers to be made to the land owners of the land tracts involved,
based on the fair and reasonable appraisal of the value of such properties, and
WHEREAS, formal offers have been made by authorized representa-
tives of the City of Lubbock to all those known to have or claim an interest.
in the land hereinafter described and such offers have not been accepted by
those to whom such offers were made;
NOW THEREFORE
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF
LUBBOCK, TEXAS THAT:
The special attorneys for the City of Lubbock, Croslin & Pharr, are
hereby authorized and directed to institute proper legal proceedings
in condemnation in the name of and for and on behalf of the City of
Lubbock, Texas against C. E. .Hobgood and wife, Martha E. Hobgood,
Jim J. Hobgood, Mary Ellen McReynolds and husband
McReynolds, LeonarayPennington, a widow, Robert C. Hobgood,
Edward G. Hobgood, Joe S. Hobgood, Ulyss Hobgood and Martha
Ruth Hobgood, a feme sole, the owners and all others known or
found to have an interest in the following described tract or tracts
of land situated in Lubbock County, Texas, to-wit:
First Tract
A tract of land containing 18. 850 acres out of Section 32, Block A,
Lubbock County, Texas;
BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of the Northeast one-fourth (1/4)
of said Section 32, Block A;
''"' THENCE East a distance of 121. 4 feet to a point;

THENCE South parallel to and 121. 4 feet East of the West line of
said Northeast one-fourth (1/4) of Section 32, Block A, a distance
of 1, 980 feet to a point for the Southeast corner of this tract;
THENCE West a distance of 1, 005 feet to a point for the Southwest
corner of this.tract;
THENCE North parallel to and 883. 6 feet West of the West line of
the Northeast one-fourth (1/4), Sectinn 32, Block A, a distance of
660 feet to a point;
THENCE East a distance of 883. 6 feet to a point in the one-half (1/2)
Section line;
THENCE North along the one-half (1/2) Section line, a distance of
1, 320 feet to the place of beginning.
Second Tract
A tract of land containing 11. 24 acres out of the NE 1/4 Section 32,
Block A, Lubbock County, Texas;
BEGINNING at a point 121. 4 feet East of the Northwest corner of the
Northeast one-fourth (1/4) of said Section 32, Block A, for the begin-
ning point of this tract;
THENCE East along the North line of said Section 32, Block A, a
distance of 250 feet to a point the Northeast corner of this tract;
THENCE South parallel to and 371. 4 feet East of the West line of
said Northeast one-fourth (1/4) of Section 32, Block A, a distance of
1980 feet to a point, for Southeast corner this tract;
THENCE West a distance of 250 feet to a point for the Southwest
corner of this tract;
THENCE North parallel to 121. 4 feet East of the West line of the
Northeast one-fourth (1/4) Section 32, Block A, a distance of 1980
feet to the point of beginning.
Upon motion of Commissioner Casey , seconded
by Commissioner Byrd the foregoing resolution was
approved by unanimous vote of the City Commission of the City of Lubbock
this the 26th day of July, 1956.
