PART I - LUBBOCK MEMORIAL CENTER
PART I - LUBBOCK MEMORIAL CENTER is a part of the total Civic Center
Project which consists of PART I - LUBBOCK MEMORIAL CENTER, being is-
sued by the City of Lubbock Texas, and PARTS II AND III MEMORIAL
CENTER COMPLEX, URBAN RENEWAL PROJECT TEX. R-138(c), being issued by
the Urban Renewal Agency of the City of Lubbock, Texas. ALL'OF"PARTS
I, II AND III OF THE PROJECT ARE TO BE BID AND CONSTRUCTED AS A COM-
BINED PROJECT.
Separate sealed Bids for MECHANICAL WORK, ELECTRICAL WORK, AND ELEVA-
TOR WORK for construction of PART I - LUBBOCK MEMORIAL CENTER, will be
.received until 2:00 p.m..Central Daylight Saving*Time; October*40i 1973.
Separate sealed Bids for GENERAL CONSTRUCTION for construction of PART
I - LUBBOCK MEMORIAL CENTER, will be received until 2:00'p.m. Central
Daylight Savinq Time, October 17, 1973.
All Bids, on each bid date, will be received by the City of Lubbock,
Texas at the office of the City Purchasing Agent, Room 207, City Hall,
Tenth Street and Texas Avenue, Lubbock, Texas and publicly opened and
read aloud in the Council Chamber Room of the City Hall.
The City of Lubbock, Texas will require the successful General Con-
struction Bidder to enter into sub -contracts with the successful Bid-
ders for Mechanical Work, Electrical Work, and Elevator Work for con-
struction of PART I.- LUBBOCK MEMORIAL CENTER. The General Construc-
tion Bidder shall include in his Bid the amount he will charge for
assuming all responsibility, supervising, financing, coordinating and
guaranteeing performance of the Sub -Contractors for Mechanical, Elec-
trical and Elevator Work. Each of the Sub -Contractors shall pay his
proportionate share of the General Construction Contractor's Perform-
ance and Payment Bond premiums.
Bids are invited upon several items and major quantities of work for
PART I described fully in the Drawings.and Technical Specifications
and approximately described as follows:
PART I ITEMS
I CONVENTION COMPLEX
Consisting of Banquet Hall, Exhibit Hall, Meeting Rooms, Theater,
and other special purpose area, and including stairways, eleva-
tors, air conditioning, landscaping, lighting and site develop-
yent .
II DAY CARE CENTER
As separate facility on the Memorial Center site.
III CENTRAL PLANT
A separate power plant to serve the entire Memorial Center Com-
plex, including a Central Library facility on the site.
Contract Documents, including Drawings and Technical Specifications,
are on file -at the office of The Architects Group, 1617 Broadway,
Suite 3, Lubbock, Texas 79401.
Copies of the Contract Documents PART I may be obtained by depositing
One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) in the name of the City -of Lubbock, Texas -
for each set,of documents so obtained. Each such deposit will be re-
funded if 'the documents are returned in good condition within ten (10)
days after Bid opening. General Construction bidders will be limited
to four (4) sets. Mechanical and Electrical bidders will be limited to
three (3) sets. Requests for. additional sets will be considered on an
individual bas,i.s .
General Construction Bidders must submit a certified check or bank draft,
payable to the order of the City of Lubbock, Texas, negotiable U.S. Gov-
ernment Bonds (at par value), or a satisfactory Bid Bond executed by the
Bidder and an acceptable surety, in an amount equal to five percent (5%)
of the total Bid for PART I - LUBBOCK MEMORIAL CENTER, as a guarantee that
the Bidder will enter into a.contract within ten floTdays after notice of
award of contract to him. Bids without check, negotiable bond or Bid Bond
will not be considered.

Mechanical Work, Electrical Work and Elevator Work Bidders must submit a
certified check or bank draft, payable to the order of the City of Lubbock,
Texas, negotiable U.S. Government Bonds (at par value), or a satisfactory
Bid Bond executed by the Bidder and an acceptable surety, in an amount
equal to five percent (5%) of the total Bid for PART I-'LUBBOCK 1104ORIAL
CENTER, as a guarantee that the Bidder will enter into a contract within
ten 10) days after notice of award of the contract to the successful Gen-
eral Construction Bidder. Bids without check, negotiable bond or Bid Bond
will not be considered.
The successful General Construction Bidder must furnish a payment bond and
performance bond, upon the forms provided, in the amount of one hundred per-
cent 100%of the contract price for PART I - LUBBOCK MEMORIAL CENTER in-
cluding Mechanical, Electrical and Elevator Work, from an approved Surety
Company holding a permit from the State of Texas to act as Surety, or other
Surety or Sureties acceptable to the City of Lubbock, Texas.
Attention is called to the fact that not less than the minimum salaries and
wages set forth in the Contract Documents must be paid on this project, and
that the Contractor must ensure that employees and applicants for employment
are'not discriminated against because of their race, color, sex, religion,
..or natural origin.
Bids may be held by the City of Lubbock, Texas, for a period not to exceed
thirty (30) calendar days from the date of the opening of the General Con-
struction bids for.the purpose of reviewing the Bids and investigating the
qualifications of the Bidders prior to.awarding the Contract.
The City of Lubbock, Texas, reserves the right to reject any or all bids or
to.waive any informalities in the bidding.
Sealed Bids for Mechanical Work, Electrical Work and Elevator Work shall be
addressed to' the City.of Lubbock, Box 2000, Lubbock, Texas 79401 and shall
bear a notation in the lower left hand -corner of the envelope that contains
the Bid proposal stating that a Bid is contained therein on "Mechanical Work
(or -Electrical Work or Elevator Work)" on PART I' LUBBOCK ME140RIAL CENTER
and on Project Improvements, PART II, Memorial Center Comp ex, Urban Renewal
Project Tex. R-138 c .
