WHEREAS, by public demand the City Commission was many months
ago faced with the problem of selecting.a site for the Auditorium-Coliseum,
Copy and in an effort to locate the structure consistent with the desires generally of
mailed the citizens of Lubbock considering present and future needs and uses of the
each building, and for this purpose selected membership for its Auditorium-
member Coliseum Board and charged it with the responsibility of finding the proper
of solution to the location problem; and,

Coliseum WHEREAS, the Board, after public hearings and with the cooperation
Board. of Texas Technological College officials and the public generally, selected a
site on the Texas Technological College Campus,pursuant to which the site so
selected and appurtenances were conveyed to the City and a primary operating
agreement entered into, mutually agreeable to the City and the College; and,
WHEREAS, the City Commission desires to make publicly known its
appreciation for the excellent work done by the members of the Board;
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
T HAT the members of the Auditorium-Coliseum Board, namely,
J. D. Hassell, Chairman, W. B. Rushing, Homer Maxey, C. W. Ratliff,
J. Ray Dickey, Dave Sherrill, Joe Bryant, Harold Chapman and James L.
Quicksall, are individually and as a: group highly commended for the unselfish
public service rendered in behalf of this project; and the City Commission
extends its congratulations to each member of the Board, the College Authori-
ties, and the Citizens of Lubbock for the outstanding spirit of cooperation and
foresight evidenced in the final location and mutual agreements entered into,
all of which have been satisfactorily concluded in the public interest.
Passed and approved by unanimous vote of the City Commission, namely,
Murrell R. Tripp, Mayor, Hurley Carpenter, L. E. Davis, Harry Morris and
Lucian Thomas, Commissioners, this '27th day of August , 1953.
