WHEREAS , the Commission has had excellent experience in
approximately thirty (30) annexations within the past several years by
using the methods d annexation now permitted by law and the City's
charter, with a minimum of expense; and,
W HER EA S , Senate Bill 89 by Rogers and Senate Bill 172 by
• �' $ Phillips are now pending passage,' and 'an analysis of these ,proposed
14,,ta laws indicates that these Bills will saddle the City of.Lubbock and its
, ��¢„�`; , people with a tedious, costly and burdensome method and procedure in
making additional annexations which, in the opinion of this Commission,
J �? 7' �,g should not be imposed upon this city or any other city in Texas; THERE-
FORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE.CITY OF LUBBOCK:
THAT the Commission go on record as opposing these two Bills
and urge that they be defeated.
On motion of Commissioner Morris , seconded by
Commissioner Thomas , the foregoing Resolution was
passed by unanimous vote of the City Commission this 26 day of
March 1953.
