RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Texas Highway Beautification Act, Article 6674-1, V. C. S.
authorizes the Texas Highway Commission to provide for the control and regula-

`e tion of outdoor advertising, and

WHEREAS, Minute Order No. 66244, dated May 31, 1972, established policies
for the implementation of this Act, as further implemented by Administrative Ord(
No. D-102 dated June 7, 1972, provides that the control for the erection and main-
tenance of signs will be accomplished through the issuance of licenses and permits
and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lubbock, has determined that it
appears to be in the best interest and convenience of the citizens of the City of
Lubbock to have the Texas Highway Department regulate outdoor advertising in
accordance with the Texas Highway Beautification Act, NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LUBBOCK:
11 THAT the City Council of the City of Lubbock does hereby request the Texas
Highway Department to regulate outdoor advertising in accordance with the Texas
Highway Beautification Act.
Passed by the City Council this 26th day of October 1972.
